Please pray for him and our family.

Done!

My brother and I were at my father's side when he died. I sensed clearly the moment of his passing away.

God bless you all.

Your father was fortunate that you were there. My father died in a nursing home, 5 minutes before I arrived. Only person with him was a cousin. I regret it to this day !!

A prayer for your father and for you:

Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into life.

God is my shepherd, so nothing shall I want. I rest in the meadows of faithfulness and love. I walk by the quiet waters of peace.

Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into life.

Gently you raise me and heal my weary soul. You lead me by pathways of righteousness and truth. My spirit shall sing the music of your name.

Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into life.

Though I should wander the valley of death, I fear no evil for you are at my side, your rod and your staff my comfort and my hope.

Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into life.

You have set me a banquet of love in the face of hatred, crowning me with love beyond my power to hold.

Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into life.

Surely your kindness and mercy follow me all the days of my life. I will dwell in the house of my God forever-more.

Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into life.

O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who hast trampled down death and overthrown the Devil, and given life to Thy world, do Thou, the same Lord, give rest to the souls of Thy departed servants in a place of brightness, a place of refreshment, a place of repose, where all sickness, sighing, and sorrow have fled away. Pardon every transgression which they have committed, whether by word or deed or thought. For Thou art a good God and lovest mankind; because there is no man who lives yet does not sin, for Thou only art without sin, Thy righteousness is to all eternity, and Thy word is truth.

For Thou are the Resurrection, the Life, and the Repose of Thy servants who have fallen asleep, O Christ our God, and unto Thee we ascribe glory, together with Thy Father, who is from everlasting, and Thine all-holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever unto ages of ages. Amen.

Vic: A prayer for your father and for you:

That's not a prayer, it's a worship song from a Church of Christ composer popular with Campbellites, Lutherans, and liberal Catholic congregations.

A Pole: O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who hast trampled down death and overthrown the Devil,...

That's a standard funeral prayer for Orthodox Church in America. You just copy/pasted it without attribution.

That's the 23rd Psalm, as arranged by a guy named Haugen. We sing it at every funeral. I find it very comforting. It is a prayer. Psalms are prayers. Psalm means "song", you know. The psalms are songs.

I offered it as a prayer to somebody who is grieving.
