Now I'm not sure if I should mourn him or not. It's very confusing.
His heyday really was in the Fifties when he was considered a hot comedic talent. He was extremely gay toward Dean Martin for a long long time, considering that it was the Fifties. Always trying to kiss him on the mouth, those embarrassing declarations of romantic love, etc. Then Lewis made those awful comedies so beloved by the French back then.
But I liked Dean Martin a lot better than Jerry Louis. Anyway, I know which one I'd rather have a drink with, or listen to sing a song, or tell a joke or show up on Carson's Tonight Show. I also liked Dean Martin's variety show that played in the late Sixties (I think). I'm not sure if it is still available via TVland or not.
