Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson explains how NASA deflects the asteroids that are careening toward our planet. (FOX 'After The Bell' segment opens with NASA TV imagery) Interviewer: "NASA is tracking multiple asteroids approaching Earth's orbit...at un-imaginable speed! SHOULD WE BE AFRAID OF THESE ASTEROIDS??" Neil DeGrasse Tyson: "The Solar System is a shooting gallery....there are rogue asteroids, whose orbit cross the orbit of the Earth.... THEY ARE AN ISSUE....but not a problem PROVIDING we know where they are, can track them, AND how to deflect them."
Poster Comment: Oooo-kay...I watched this and was thoroughly entertained. You will be as well. "Astrophysicist" -- what does that job description even mean? The truth: They are so titled (and paid) to be mere "Theorists" of Space, Matter, and Time. Anyway... How much do you suppose it would cost NASA to track AND deflect "rogue asteroids" from smashing into the earth, and saving us...like Hollywood disaster flick and scripts we've already seen? From start to finish this is one strange, theatrical interview and segment. It opens as expected -- with 'NASA TV' imagery. How much un-believable or flat out lies, disproven sc-fi theories and claims, bogus imagery and scenarios can you count being advanced in this brief interview?? 3? 5? 10? 15?

Neil deGrasse Tyson suggests American Taxpayers should hurry up and finance some kind of asteroid shield and deflector -- like an Atari Game. BEFORE WE ALL DIE!! What a blatant NASA High Priest and Shill. Do we really insurance from rogue asteroids that *might* hit Earth and blow us up into smithereens? Or is Tyson merely just creating unnecessary panic for kids with yet another crisis that doesn't exist and one more bogeyman for young people to fear? This interview wound up as a self-promoting advertisement for Tyson and his book called, Letters From An Astrophysicist'. Presented with his usual narcissistic inanities, Tyson wild theories on the cosmos and life are in full bloom (we've had curiosity "beaten out of us" as adults, so now you can be a part of "Space" again.) With respect to Letters From An Astrophysicist', according to Tyson it's based on emails he's received over the years -- on death & dying, NASA (total surprise), on parenting, 4th grader hate mail, and various fanboi Trekkie-type mail. Just as bizarre was the interview conducted by this Fox Business "news" fan-girl (whose crack-pipe was clearly ablaze during the entire segment), it almost ended with a second question by her 9 year old son (he had already posed a prior video question) to DeGrasse Tyson. That question was, "Does Science dis-prove religion?" (The kid's first question was, "How do you think the Universe will end?") WHY should a 9-year old kid ask these kinds of questions?? Some of you have routinely asked, "Why does the shape of the earth matter?" Why make such a big deal over the issue of NASA? THIS is ONE reason; The kid already apparently doesn't believe in God or obviously, His Creation. OR actual "Science" for that matter.
Isn't he a #MeToo'er, or am I thinking of somebody else?
Yeah...I believe you're right; I think he made the list too... (But for some reason, there's not been much follow up noise. Hmmm...)
Neil deGrasse Tyson talks misconduct claims: 'I learned that I had friends in times of need' **In 2018 two women, identified as working with Tyson or in his scientific field, accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior. Tyson denied the allegations at the time, and after investigations concluded, the astrophysicist was able to keep his job at the New York's American Museum of Natural History. The "Cosmos" host told [Stephen] Colbert about the importance of support he's been receiving. "I learned that I had friends in times of need, and in a time of stress, that's what I learned from this year," Tyson said. "As a scientist, I spend most of my time thinking objectively about the world, thinking a little less about emotion about feelings and when I needed it most, people were there for me: friends, family, fans." He explains exactly why he received ZERO heat: "FRIENDS IN TIME OF NEED." In others words, "It's not what you know, it's who you know (in high places)." **AND...already the link to those "two women" is DEAD.
I am 1000 times more worried about missions to asteroids where they attempt to land on them or set off "seismic" explosions in order to study them. That's just the kind of thing to knock them out of their harmless orbit and send them crashing into Earth. Maybe not right away, but decades from now. Thanks, NASA.
About as much as defending ourselves from global warming, Africanized killer bees, the AIDS epidemic, the Zika virus, the Ebola virus, H5N1 (bird flu), SARS, Mad Cow, acid rain, the ozone hole, Y2K, and a whole bunch other we-are- doomed scares.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson: It's the thought that Tyson is considered an expert that is more frightening. Ditto for Bill Nye, the Science Fruit. Strangely enough, I think Nye has a better mind for science in general. But then, Tyson is just a product of affirmative action in astrophysics and made the libs at Princeton and Harvard happy about being so un-racial when they gave him degrees. Tyson is not a serious astrophysicist to anyone other than kids who watched him on PBS shows. No one should confuse Tyson with the real great minds of physics and astrophysics. People like Einstein, Bohr, Feynmann, Sagan, etc. And he certainly can't be compared to the great men in the field of astronomy. The world of astrophysics would be totally unchanged if Tyson had never existed. Tyson is just an affirmative action hire for PBS shows for children and got famous enough that libmedia runs to him as a brand-name authority. In real life, Tyson runs a projector at a NYC planetarium but does no research and is not a theorist. Tyson is a Twitterholic and has started to make people pretty angry. Here's a guy who used to be a fan but who just hates his guts now. This dude has a real mouth on him, pretty NSFW. Some other videos about Tyson, none complimentary. Tyson is just another YouBoob douche.
This from the man who downgraded Pluto. Perhaps he thinks it is an asteroid. Asteroids exist, they fly by, some come close, most do not and the possibility we will see the one that hits very remote. He should go back to calculating the orbits of these asteroids, that is what an astrophysicist does, but I suspect that this idiot wasn't good at the game and so found a way to talk about space rather than do anything

That first vid I started listening to it and the guy slams Tyson for his stat analysis of the mass shootings, saying that he shouldn't marginalize the deaths. Fact is, they need to be marginalized because the MSM always blows them out of proportion to the point it dominates the political debate. Things are way out of balance.
I liked that guy because he managed to work himself up into a full-blown rant and keep pouring on the invective with a steadily increasing tempo. His dislike for Tyson was visceral, not just another vid for his YouBoob channel. It was pretty sincere. I posted a thread directly related to this today. It occurred to me how relatively rare any real gun threads are any more, here at LF or elsewhere. I'm sure people overseas think the only things in American politics are guns and abortion. Which may be kinda true. Hence my own suggestion that we arm those fetuses so they can shoot any abortionist trying to dismember and evict them from the womb. Yes, that is a product you can order, a mouse pad.
I'm worried that people actually believe NASA and "scientists" -- that this is remotely possible. One reason this is believed is the constant CGI NASA Studios imagery keeps on catapulting. That's just the kind of thing to knock them out of their harmless orbit and send them crashing into Earth. Maybe not right away, but decades from now. Thanks, NASA. I got the feeling that kid was reciting some questions that mommy planted on him, part of her plan for her show to make great content, include her child and make him look oh so smart. When you make a personal budget you include food, housing, utilities, clothing, etc. You also add a small amount for entertainment. NASA is entertainment. If the budget is out of whack, you're not going to fix it by cutting back on entertainment. Leave me with one reason to appreciate the federal government.

At @ 2:45 mark listen in as Tyson directly mocks God's prophetic account in scripture's Revelation that the world would indeed end in FIRE. At that juncture DeGrasse-Tyson assure his TV audience by stating the complete OPPOSITE -- pausing and staring straight into for effect, then emphasizing that the world will eventually end NOT as prophesied by God (FIRE), but BY ICE. NO surprise. Satan and his minion ALWAYS say, do, and front upside-down or opposite of that which God states as truth. And here below is deGrasse-Tyson being interviewed, once again attempting to discredit God's descriptions and inerrancy of His Word, of Creation and description of the Heavens; This while also evangelizing on behalf of *his* religion/cult, featuring Sci-Fi Outer Space realm (and obviously NO God-the-Creator nor His Account.) People, there's only ONE truth, ONE choice. Either God's divine account of Creation is truth OR deGrasse-Tyson (representing man) is speaking truth. Whose side do you trust?
