Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson explains how NASA deflects the asteroids that are careening toward our planet. (FOX 'After The Bell' segment opens with NASA TV imagery) Interviewer: "NASA is tracking multiple asteroids approaching Earth's orbit...at un-imaginable speed! SHOULD WE BE AFRAID OF THESE ASTEROIDS??" Neil DeGrasse Tyson: "The Solar System is a shooting gallery....there are rogue asteroids, whose orbit cross the orbit of the Earth.... THEY ARE AN ISSUE....but not a problem PROVIDING we know where they are, can track them, AND how to deflect them."
Poster Comment: Oooo-kay...I watched this and was thoroughly entertained. You will be as well. "Astrophysicist" -- what does that job description even mean? The truth: They are so titled (and paid) to be mere "Theorists" of Space, Matter, and Time. Anyway... How much do you suppose it would cost NASA to track AND deflect "rogue asteroids" from smashing into the earth, and saving us...like Hollywood disaster flick and scripts we've already seen? From start to finish this is one strange, theatrical interview and segment. It opens as expected -- with 'NASA TV' imagery. How much un-believable or flat out lies, disproven sc-fi theories and claims, bogus imagery and scenarios can you count being advanced in this brief interview?? 3? 5? 10? 15?

Neil DeGrasse Tyson: It's the thought that Tyson is considered an expert that is more frightening. Ditto for Bill Nye, the Science Fruit. Strangely enough, I think Nye has a better mind for science in general. But then, Tyson is just a product of affirmative action in astrophysics and made the libs at Princeton and Harvard happy about being so un-racial when they gave him degrees. Tyson is not a serious astrophysicist to anyone other than kids who watched him on PBS shows. No one should confuse Tyson with the real great minds of physics and astrophysics. People like Einstein, Bohr, Feynmann, Sagan, etc. And he certainly can't be compared to the great men in the field of astronomy. The world of astrophysics would be totally unchanged if Tyson had never existed. Tyson is just an affirmative action hire for PBS shows for children and got famous enough that libmedia runs to him as a brand-name authority. In real life, Tyson runs a projector at a NYC planetarium but does no research and is not a theorist. Tyson is a Twitterholic and has started to make people pretty angry. Here's a guy who used to be a fan but who just hates his guts now. This dude has a real mouth on him, pretty NSFW. Some other videos about Tyson, none complimentary. Tyson is just another YouBoob douche.
That first vid I started listening to it and the guy slams Tyson for his stat analysis of the mass shootings, saying that he shouldn't marginalize the deaths. Fact is, they need to be marginalized because the MSM always blows them out of proportion to the point it dominates the political debate. Things are way out of balance.
I liked that guy because he managed to work himself up into a full-blown rant and keep pouring on the invective with a steadily increasing tempo. His dislike for Tyson was visceral, not just another vid for his YouBoob channel. It was pretty sincere. I posted a thread directly related to this today. It occurred to me how relatively rare any real gun threads are any more, here at LF or elsewhere. I'm sure people overseas think the only things in American politics are guns and abortion. Which may be kinda true. Hence my own suggestion that we arm those fetuses so they can shoot any abortionist trying to dismember and evict them from the womb. Yes, that is a product you can order, a mouse pad.
