“The 300th Texas bus of migrants just left for Chicago,” Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Thursday.

“As Biden does nothing, Texas will continue taking unprecedented action to relieve our overwhelmed border communities & secure the border,” Abbott said in a tweet heralding the departure of the landmark 300th bus.

In a Friday press release updating the success of his state’s Operation Lone Star, Gov. Abbott also reported on the status of his initiative to bus illegal immigrants to areas – such as Chicago, New York City, and Washington, DC – that declare themselves to be “sanctuaries” for those who break into the U.S. unlawfully.

Since the beginning of September, Texas has bused more than 1,200 migrants to Chicago, according to the press release:

“Texas has also bused almost 8,300 migrants to our nation's capital since April, over 3,700 migrants to New York City since August 5, and more than 1,200 migrants to Chicago since August 31.”

“The busing mission is providing much-needed relief to our overwhelmed border communities,” Gov. Abbott explained.

Gov. DeSantis made national headlines in September, when Texas flew two planes full of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts – which prompted shipped them off to a military base in Cape Cod.

Operation Lone Star has resulted in more than 323,000 migrant apprehensions and 21,600 criminal arrests, with more than 19,200 felony charges - and the seizure of over 350 million lethal doses of fentanyl - DeSantis’ office reports.
