Had two heart operations, and while in the hospital recovering from the second one,I discovered I had Stage 4 Lymphoma. Got massive does of chemo that pretty much fried my memory, but as slowly starting to get better now,and am in remission. Sooner or later it will return,so I go in for a Pet scan every couple of months.

Pretty much stayed away because I couldn't deal with the arguing and had a hard time even forming thoughts, which was and is about as frustrating as anything I can imagine.

I can still lose track of my train of thought as I am typing it,though. I stop right in the middle of a sentence sometimes and don't have a freaking clue what the point I was trying to make was.

Could be worse,though.

Sheeesh Pete, I had no idea. Sounds like a challenging three months. Good to hear you are fighting thru the worst of it. Take your time and focus on your health, but please realize that you ARE missed and I, for one, look forward to your cheery, optimistic posts. (And all the rest of them, too).

Prayers up for you, Pete...MUD

Yes, sorry but it used to be called the GOP Briefing Room (hence, GBR). And the "rumor" was the post above (#2) where it was announced that you were alive and posting elsewhere...MUD

It was actually last summer when I started having problems, and there is no recovery from Stage 4 lymphoma. Just remission.

Glad to see you are still posting here.

Thanks, but I won't be posting often. I just don't have the energy. There are a couple of places I just don't post at all anymore because of this.

Am hoping the remission lasts forever Pete. I can honestly say you been one of the most well respected posters I've ever had the pleasure of conversing with.

My thoughts about religion are fairly close to yours, but am praying for your healing anyways because it cant hurt, and its pretty much all i can do as far as i know.

Love ya man!

That is mostly where I post. Not everybody sees eye to eye there, but they don't seem to have the huge flame wars that happen on some boards.

I have to admit a few of the bible-tumping NT's there that want him tossed out of office for getting divorces and getting laid set me off more than a little. I suspect most are former Church Ladies from FR. They have that tone.

Also a job you wouldn't want to push off on me if your life meant anything to you. I am terrified of heights. I get dizzy looking down and want to jump.

I have Stage 4 Lymphoma, which is related to Agent Orange. It is now in remission, but there is no getting rid of it. It WILL return, and when it does all they can do is give me a pill to help ease the pain. Could be tomorrow, could be years from now. There is no way of telling.

The good news is that at my age death is not the BFD it would be if I were 50-60 years younger. Frankly, nobody is more surprised than me that I lived this long.

Probably because I outlived most of the ones that used to whine at me.

It damn sure didn't have anything to do with careful planning, eating right, exercising, not doing drugs, not drinking, not chasing wild wimmins, etc, etc, etc. I did all that, and more.

The way I see it,I am so far ahead of this game it's too late for cancer to show up.

The funny part is I knew I was afraid of heights from the time I was a small kid,and figured becoming a paratrooper would be the way to beat it.

Little did I know there is NOTHING people who are afraid of heights want to do more than jump.

Going on or coming back from missions in VN,I would be sitting in the door opening on a slick with my feet hanging outside, and get fascinated by looking at the jungle passing below, and start leaning forward without even thinking of it. Every time this happened one of the yards sitting behind me would grab my rucksack and pull me back up straight and "break the spell". I would turn around to look, and they would all be smiling at me and laughing. So much for THAT being a secret.

"...there is NOTHING people who are afraid of heights want to do more than jump."

Seems counter-intuitive at first, but I guess fear of heights is a fear of falling...once you realize there are no dire consequences resultant from diving from heights, the fear would be dispelled...MUD
