"Im letting you know what Jesus has done for me, and in that Im no longer a slave, Im a son now, a son of God. Im free."
Kanye West, white sweater, bows his head in prayer during his Sunday Service at The Gateway in Salt Lake City on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019. Thousands packed into the outdoor mall, causing people to stand on and climb up anything they could find to catch a glimpse of West.
Colter Peterson, Deseret News
Ahead of the release of Jesus Is King, Kanye West said in a recent interview that he asked anyone working with him on his album to not have premarital sex.
- There were times where I was asking people not to have premarital sex while they were working on the album, West said during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Musics Beats 1 Radio, according to Genius. Theres times where I went to people that were working on other projects and said Can you just work and focus on this? I thought if we could all focus and fast Families who pray together stay together.
West said his addiction to sex prompted his infamous feud with Taylor Swift, too, when he stole the microphone from her and said Beyonce had the best album of all time.
- That was such a script out of a rock stars life, he said. My mom had passed a year before. And I said some people drown themselves in drugs, and I drown myself in my addiction: sex.
West said he has a new relationship with God, which inspired him to make sure his collaborators had shared values, according to XXL Magazine.
- Now that Im in service to Christ, my job is to spread the gospel, to let people know what Jesus has done for me. Ive spread a lot of things, he said in the interview. There was a time I was letting you know what high fashion had done for me, I was letting you know what the Hennessey had done for me, but now Im letting you know what Jesus has done for me, and in that Im no longer a slave, Im a son now, a son of God. Im free.
The most space that I had to think is when I went to the hospital. One of the things that happened when I went to the hospital is I started reading the Bible and I started writing and copying out Bible verses and a person came to my house that wasnt a Christian and told me come over, and 30 minutes later I was in handcuffs headed to the hospital. Now this person very well may have saved my life because when youre in an episode you could jump off the side of a balcony you can stab your eye out you can do a lot of things when youre ramped up like that, but one of the things that people do now is they try to discriminate against my mind and my thoughts because of that moment.
The interview aired Thursday, one day before West plans to drop his new Jesus Is King album.
West has been promoting his new-found Christian beliefs in lead-up to the new album. Earlier this month, he admitted that he converted to Christianity while speaking at George Washington Universitys Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
I want to let you know that I am not here for your entertainment this afternoon, West told the crowd, according to Complex. We are here to spread the gospel.
Excuse me if I mispronounce anything, he added. I am a recent convert. It means I recently got saved within this year.
Wests pastor, Adam Tyson, said in a recent interview with the Pure Flix Podcast that West disapproves of people swearing.
If somebody cusses in his presence, Ive heard him say a couple of times, Hey, man, you cant cuss when youre with me. Im a born-again Christian, Tyson said on the Pure Flix Podcast. Whos gonna say that if theyre not meaning that they want Christ to be exalted in all that they do? (He told me), From now on, all I want to do is serve Christ. I want every song that I sang, to have part of my testimony, to include the gospel, and to include the element of worship to our great God. Thats what I want to do.
Jesus is King is expected to drop Friday at midnight.

Real or publicity stunt?

I hope so. Time will tell. If he has become a Christian, it can't be easy, with the whole world watching him.
I remember when Dylan became a Christian in the 70's. He released what to me was one of his best songs, You Gotta Serve Somebody. I wasn't a Christian then, but the song was powerful, both in the lyrics and in that gravelly Dylan style.
It was reported that Dylan returned to his Jewish roots in the early 80's. Even though I still wasn't a Christian, I was somehow disappointed to hear about his falling away.

So...Kanye has bipolar disorder. This further complicates his very high profile conversion. It has been reported that Justin Bieber, who also made a very sincere profession of faith, suffers from "anxiety and depression" (bipolar).
With that, a bit of searching turned up "19 Celebrities" with mental health issues, including Lady Gaga, Ryan Reynolds, Adele, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lena Dunham, Brad Pitt, on-and-on.
Who knew that bipolar disorder was a requirement for a job in the entertainment industry these days.

There's gotta be something in this verse that speaks to you, Fred.
[Verse 2: No Malice]
A lot of damaged souls, I done damaged those
And in my arrogance, took a camera pose
Caught with a trunk of Barry Manilows
They sing a different tune when the slammer close
From the concrete grew a rose
They give you Wraith talk, I give you faith talk
Blindfolded on this road, watch me faith walk
Just hold on to your brother when his faith lost

Two of my brothers I call Fugitive and Grave Robber. My third I call by his first name.
I'm not going to hold onto those first two.

Whoa! "Fugitive" is kind of self-explanatory, but that "Grave Robber" yo...
Maybe Kanye's line about "damaged souls" might actually apply here.
Some good news for you...Christ came into this world to save sinners...

Quite a few observers might conclude the supposed cases of "bipolar disorders" and other mental disorders are actually demon possession. That is also my assessment as well.
Kanye was also said to have "sold" his soul in the past. IF he's reneging on his alleged "deal" with the Devil, he's going to have to give it all to Jesus.
I pray that this man's faith remains super-strong as he weathers the hate, propaganda storm and nasty threats he's about to face in his battle.

Good question. I was excited about this news.
*Could* he still be possessed, doing what we'd expect Satan to do? (deceive and mock?)
We'll find out soon.

Is it better to live the "perfect" life of luxury and power, with all your heart desired for all your 90 years on this earth?; Never wanting or needing a reason to call on the name, "JESUS"?
OR...better to have lived a humble life on this earth, knowing Jesus...and living forevermore in Paradise, within the loving bosom of The Lord?
If Kanye West sends that message to millions of "fans," how great a "ministry" would that be? How many souls will this man convert and save from the bowels of Hell?
Im no longer a slave, Im a son now, a son of God. Im free."
Amazing wisdom. Awesome Truth.

Didn't know he had done this. Not sure if "selling one's soul" really means anything, especially anything permanent.
What is disturbing...he accepts Christ, and bam, immediately comes out with an album. His pastoral care people should have strongly advised him to take some time away, get some grounding. His behavior as a new Christian, certainly one with bipolar disorder, is risky.

There's always that possibility I suppose, but it appears that he is sincere. Listening to some of the videos, for the most part, the lyrics and music itself are what maybe you could call "modern" Gospel. It was refreshing to not hear any rap-style songs, but then I didn't listen to all of them.
Most all of the reviews I read are pretty much panning this album.
Also I noticed he is showing a lot of humility and repentance IMO, and has freely admitted his addiction to porn and sex.

Is Kayne West Really a Christian?
Excerpt:
Before you dismiss this thing, whatever it is, as a cynical ploy by Kanye to sell albums (more about that from PJMs Tyler ONeil here) listen to the sermon delivered at Kanyes gathering last Friday in Detroit by Adam Tyson, pastor of Placerita Bible Church in Santa Clarita, California. (His church is currently meeting at The Masters Seminary, which will ring a bell for many Christians, as its the school founded by beloved Pastor John MacArthur.) Tyson took attendees through the Old Testament book of Isaiah, chapter 6, and the prophets vision of a holy God. He contrasted Gods holiness with our sinfulness and inability to save ourselves. I hope youll bear with me for quoting the passage at length (along with the sermon below) because I think it gives some insight into tenor and purpose of these Sunday Services:

Isn't that expected?
Most critics are indeed cultists, pagan, and satanists who hate God and Kanye for shining the light.

Thanks, Red! Spectacular sermon! Pastor Adam Tyson has the bonafides to preach the Gospel.
Kanye is saved, and sharing the Word, Big Time -- Amen!

"Thats not the kind of sermon you will hear at Joel Osteens prosperity gospel church or Justin Biebers Hillsong Church.
Tyson preached a clear, unapologetic gospel message to thousands of people at that gathering (including Kanye) and perhaps millions who will watch it on YouTube, many of whom have never heard it before.
Is this evidence that Kanyes faith is real? Nah, it doesnt prove anything; only God knows for sure whats in the rappers heart. But all this does beg the question: Is Gods arm too short to save someone like Kanye? Are some people too far gone, too sinful to have a relationship with God?...
...That Redeemer is Jesus Christ, whose substitutionary atonement on the cross gave us the right to be called the children of God and to have our sins all of them, big and little, public and secret forgiven. Yours, mine, and Kanyes.
God has a long history of calling sinful men out of the darkness and into his light....
And let's not forget, Kanye used to refer to himself as "Yeezy," a blasphemous substitute for "Jesus." I look forward to his public admission of this as further validation of Kanye's change of heart.
