Besides being Man's Best Friend, dogs can be trained to perform many tasks.

"It's not that the dog doesn't sing well, but that he sings at all."

Now that I know it's possible, I'll be expecting my next dog to be able to help out around the pizza oven.
I can't imagine any dog not just peeing on the floor in sheer delight at the sight of one of those.

I really got a kick out of that video !! If that had been my Lab, she would have eaten the whole thing in the blink of an eye. She is a real " chow hound " LOL

Glad you and your family enjoyed, Stoner!

That beagle (it was one, right?) was remarkably disciplined, wasn't he?

He can roll around on the dough, flattening it to your Neapolitan specs!

Yup. I can easily see that.

Got a Lab/Shepherd mix.

I'd have needed a crowbar to extricate him from every pizza topping.

Delight...and ecstasy.

Which reminds me...

Yes, he was very disciplined. But I do not think it was a beagle. Too large. To me it looked more like some kind of hound.

Definitely hound-ish. I've had a beagle and it had ZERO discipline. The discipline seen here could have been from Lab(?) genes.

"If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." (Will Rogers)

"No one ever rescues an old dog. They lay in a cage until they die. PLEASE save one. None of us wants to die cold and alone... --Dennis Olson "

Nice...

Especially the Dennis Olson quote.

You've love this "old doggie adoption" story, bro.

Can't help but grab a tissue...

Look at the puppy-like energy from a older dog (11 1/2(!!) whose spirit was reborn!

I have no doubt that dogs WILL be in Heaven with us.

I firmly believe that as well !!

I enjoyed the story about pirate.

I have adopted three dogs out of the local shelter. My current Lab was only about 6 mo old when we got her. Had her about 9 years now. Wonderful dog, but very head strong.

I adopted two seniors from the same shelter. Both were wonderful dogs. Supposedly both were due to be put down within the next week. Both were senior dogs. They were running out of space, and both had been there for awhile. The first was a lab, the second was a Border Collie mix. They had guessed the BC was about 6 yr old. We had him for 6 more years before he passed because of heart problems. We gave each about 6 more years, of hopefully a wonderful life, with as much love as we could give them. They both gave a lot of love!!

I still miss them, and sometimes get tears in my eye thinking of them !!!!

Of course, I feel the same about all the dogs I have previously had, and still love them all !!!!

Yeah Hank, it was a heart touching story.

I like you love senior dogs. Breaks my heart to see them in shelters, and people passing them up. They have so much love to give, and deserve to have their remaining years with a good life!

Hear ya; I teared up watching it again. The joy of this 11 1/2 yo pooch! Acting like a pup he was so happy....

Old dogs...yup, so cool. Shame...no one seems to give them much thought. Aren't they just puppies...who are old? (like us.) They still need the same love and...to need give love back to us humans.

What other creature in this world give us nothing but unconditional love, loyalty, and friendship? I can't imagine this world without them.

And be able to talk with us and reminisce: "Remember that time you gave me your last piece of Pizza crust? I REALLY loved you for that" ;-)

I will always believe they are God's gift to Man. That notion hadn't always occurred to me. Like many, at one time my thought was: "They're just animals." I was obviously very wrong.

Here's another thought: It occurred to be that dogs demonstrate the same unconditional, undying love and loyalty as The Lord.

I'm glad you enjoyed the Pirate story...It appears you've had your own versions. Thanks for sharing your stories.

God bless you, Stoner; You are doing the Lord's work. It's touching...and a beautiful thing. Thank you for what you do.

They do, don't they?

Maybe one reason, whether fair or not: Some people don't want to get attached to a dog with few years left. They grieve as much for them as for any other loved one.

Well, I get attached to mine. And when I take them in, I know that God only loans them to us for a short while. I try to make their time with me as comfortable & as happy as I can. And they always give me as much or more love than I give them!

And yes, I grieve when they are gone. I still miss ones I had over 30 years ago !!
