I learned a long time ago after coming to eastern North Carolina that any tropical system developing off Africa might be coming for you. I've checked hotels for 100 miles for 3 days and they are all booked up.

My wife and daughter want to go to a shelter. I say go. However, I am staying here. A shelter is like a jail. I'll die here if I need to.

Hey brutha...my prayers are with you and your family for safety and comfort. AND a bit o' luck. Keep on plugging away, don't give up!

My son lives about 20 minutes outside Raleigh. He is NOT taking this storm seriously. I've recommended he fly up to Jersey...

It’s gonna break apart before landfall... only a cat 2. Just stay above the water.

It appears to a large extent you are right. However, the wind range has extended, and we don't know how much rain and and flooding will happen.

Well, I didn't see any flooding here. However, school will be closed tomorrow for the 5th straight day. My daughter's trampoline was blown away into a drainage ditch and pretty much destroyed. However, she really doesn't use that much anymore anyway. Sadly, the top part of a large tree fell on my neighbor's house, and destroyed the roof.

That is amazing you did not have any flooding considering what I have been watching from The Weather Channel. Incredible to watch some of flood waters reaching the windows of homes. Many of the roads are inaccessible.

I believe most of that flooding occurred in the Wilmington area and along the Cape Fear river, and we are about 100 miles north of there.

I'm considering moving to the mountain west to get away from all this stuff.
