Once they have been relieved of a former duty, they can not have capability for renewed information unless a new duty post has provided a "need to know."
Trump has made a simple issue into another clusterfuck designed for the press.
None of those idiots, Trump is attacking already are restrained of USA information; if they appear in publick spouting their personal views, nothing can be done.
Trump fuckedupped again.

And it takes administrative time to pull a security clearance.
But no one is entitled to access to any level of classified material just beause he has a certain clearance. A clearance only makes one eligible to received an access authorization from the custodian of record for the information. An access authorization may be given up to the highest level for which one holds a security clearance, and a need to know.
They should be talking about pulling access authorizations which can be done same day. There is adequate evidence to pull the access authorization of Rod Rosenstein.

What Trump is doing is mainly symbolic....its a backhand to the face. And a much needed one at that. But the lack of a security clearance will definitely affect their future employment potential. They will need to go through the lengthy process all over again.

I am confident that your redundant statement was unnecessary.
He is still actively receiving a paycheck and federal employee benefits working as the United States Deputy Attorney General in the Justice Department. Are you putting the cart before the donkey?

From what you say, I guess it isnt automatically done and they still have access authorization to all classified information they had access to while they held office. Is this right?

White House announced that they want to pull six security clearances so far, Comey, Clapper, Hayden, Rice, McCabe, Brennan.
Rand says that Brennan should have a restraining order to, not get within 10,000 yards of government.

As a personal opinion, all of these so-called top-notch ex-federal government employees should be in prison; just as their Ms. hindass, Clinton.

I am confident it is not. People like Brennan and Clapper and Hillary receive special treatment where they keep the clearance and are given access to some information. Te common excuse is that they can help their replacement.
Rosenstein has a clearance and an access authorization, and he signed off on that ridiculous FISA Warrant application. There is plentiful reason to pull his access authorization. Why wait until he gets caught committing more damage?

I would add Rosenstein and consider looking at Mueller.

You just spoke the magic words.
Don't you remember what it was like getting a security clearance?

In the military it was, except for select senior officials. When the privileged few leave their positions, they are given a new access authorization so the wonder and the majesty of their knowledge and experience is not lost.
