With a new government in place in Italy this month, it didnt take long for some new policies to come into effect. This is particularly true when it comes to questions about immigration and the ongoing migrant crisis. The new ruling coalition ran on a platform of being Euroskeptics who wanted to set their own immigration and border control policies rather than deferring to the EU. Now, in one of the first tests of that principle, Italy has denied a Doctors Without Borders ship carrying hundreds of Libyan migrants permission to dock at their ports. The usual suspects are up in arms, but the Italians want other countries to start sharing this burden. (CNN)
Interior Minister Matteo Salvini sent out a message explaining why the ship was being told to hold on station. He noted that many other countries have ships roaming the Mediterranean who do not accept these boatloads of refugees. These include the Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain, France and Malta. In particular, Salvini was calling out Malta for being less than thirty miles away and consistently refusing to accept any of these boat people who are rescued at sea. Why, he asks, is Italy bearing the brunt of the burden? Its a fair question. At the same time, the new Italian government saw revolt among their own ranks as several mayors from the parties now out of power criticized them for the decision. (Politico)
This is something of a PR disaster for the new government, particularly since the shipload of refugees includes seven pregnant women and dozens of unaccompanied minors. But at the same time, the responses of other nations in the region seem to support what Italys Interior Minister is saying. Malta has been asked to take them and they refused. France and Spain have previously said its not their job either. If theyre going to refuse to accept refugees picked up at sea, what basis do they have to criticize Italy for balking at taking in hundreds more of them every day? This split in the EU is going to be getting worse before it gets better, assuming it ever does. Its now become clear that some of the members are done with taking orders from Belgium and allowing the Union to set their own border politicies for them. If Italy pushes back hard enough, the EU is going to have to come up with some new solutions. |

Then let those groups take in the migrants.
And who says they're "migrants" anyways? More like refugees. And if history is any guide, they're more likely to be potential terrorists, rapists, troublemakers, and welfare recipients.

(Merkel and Macron were documented going insane in a now famous G-7 photo where Donald "The Hammer" Trump folded his arms obstinately and calmly as Merkel leaned in to try and intimidate him.)

I'm starting to think Merkel's days are numbered and she knows it.
She blames Trump. She may not be wrong about that.

No, migrants seeking economic benefit (like welfare) is more accurate. And their numbers are strongly biased toward young men of working (or military) age, not women or children or elderly people.
The vast majority of the migrants are not the Christians of the Mideast or other minority groups. They are overwhelmingly Muslim and they not being persecuted politically or religiously in their home countries. You should not call them refugees IMO.

Trump makes most other leaders seem small and ineffectual (including 0bama, Hitlery, the Dems, AND RINOs.) He has been promoting Nationalism. AND I thinks he is causing other respective citizens (as in Germany) to question why Merkel and European leaders don't have their back. (The Italian populist backlash as well as Brexit can in part be credited to Trump.)
The Hammer (Trump's new moniker) is no doubt seen as a threat to ALL of the NWO Statist puppets. Hundreds of millions in Western nations have never seen a World Leader push back on the Merkels and the usual Globalist clique of authoritarians.

All men of fighting age. Great more gangsters to bring down society!
So you do not have jobs for your own people but you are good with making it worse for those real citizens that need help the most. More Regressive nonsense!
btw Spain unemployment rate over all is 17% and for young people its always worse (34%).

You have cases of men in their twenties who get up in the morning to shave their heavy beards and then go to 9th grade classes. We even have some of that in our country; you may recall where two of those Central American animals raped that 14yo girl in a school bathroom here in the States.

Sorry I can never remember the code. I just do not use it enough. Probably should start an article on coded to help people.
I remember in NRH,Texas they had one that was a pedophile and used his position in class to get under aged kids for his sponsor(?). This was a few years back and I think he preyed upon other Hispanic children.

from one basket case economy to another. Why should Italy take any of them? This nonsense will not stop until these vessels are returned to the country of origin. Hard luck that it is only a transit country. These people must learn that they have to solve their own problems in their own country. Is it a question of money? They have plenty to pay the people smugglers. All Iraqi "refugees" should be sent home there is no war in Iraq, all Sudanese and Somali should be sent home, all Syrians should be sent home. All sub-saharian africans should be sent home

It needs to be proportional to the original size of 1200X818. I would use width="600" height="414".
Then it's not distorted like Edvard Munch's The Scream.

"We want them here so we can bill the national government for their care and turn a profit while pretending to be humanitarian."
This is something of a PR disaster for the new government, particularly since the shipload of refugees includes seven pregnant women and dozens of unaccompanied minors.
"PR disaster"??????
Sounds to me like a party platform to run on next election!

No,refugees are people fleeing war or other national disasters, and are looking for somewhere safe to work and start a new life so they can raise their families in peace.
These goobers are Muslim insurgents looking to build a army based on the tax money of the countries they are invading.

I like this new Italian government but it doesn't seem any Italian government lasts much more than a few years, at least not since Berlusconi (Italy's version of Trump).

That would be rare. Modern browsers all resize to either height or width alone being specified. Try it. It's been in these browsers for a long time. The only time it doesn't work is with really really old pix that weren't properly set up with the correct aspect ratio.

So station war ships out on the Mediterranean Sea. If they refuse to go back, one torpedo, quick end to future battle. Lot cheaper too. Send them to the bottom. Pretty soon, no more coming.

Not really necessary. Just refuse to allow them to enter port. If they try anyhow, then they are invaders and you are perfectly justified to fire them up.
As soon as the ones back home find out the pipeline to the easy living is closed, they will stop trying to come.
