I posted it, watched and deleted it.

That's way too close to a snuff film.

People need to see what is going on. I'll find it myself and post it later.

Not really. Just another day in the life of SF soldiers deployed on hot missions.

There is no excuse for this happening these days, though. There should have been a high-altitude drone with heat sensors flying high cover ahead of them to pick up any hidden troops. They could have then called in fast movers to bomb and gun the piss out of the hidden enemy, and the guys on the ground could have then advanced on the hidden positions to gather intel, capture wounded enemy, and kill the hell out of any left living with any fight in them.

October 2017 Tongo Tongo

The US special forces detachment ambushed in the Niger last month fought alone for hours after the local Nigerien forces they were accompanying fled in the first minutes of the engagement, retired and serving special forces officers with knowledge of events have said.

The trapped soldiers also made repeated efforts to convince French warplanes sent from neighbouring Mali to engage the enemy, attempting to “talk in” the pilots who refused to attack due to poor weather, rough terrain and an inability to differentiate friend from foe, the officers said.

Four US soldiers and five Nigerien troops died in the incident, which has been the focus of an intense debate in Washington over the executive branch’s extensive powers to use military force abroad without congressional approval and with little oversight.

The Niger incident has been described as an “intelligence failure” by the Republican senator John McCain, who blamed it on budget cuts.

100% Commander in Chief Trump's fault for not ordering the US military to leave. Bring the troops home, and let those there kill each other.

President Trump needs to quit using Hillary & McCain foreign policy.

Poor weather under a CLEAR BLUE FRICKEN SKY?

More "elite"itude from the French Commies.

Yep.

It's not clear why we're in Nigeria in the first place - let alone why we're depending on the French Poodle Dogs and their associates...

Ok,they weren't USSF soldiers. They were support troops assigned to SF,and whoever the idiot was that sent them off on that mission which they were TOTALLY unprepared to take on needs to be court-martialed and shot.

HORSEHILLARY! Are you people REALLY so fucking stoopid you think Trump makes command decisions on raids like this?

You want to know why they didn't get tac air from the French? They didn't get it because the poor SOB they tasked with leading that raid had no experience or training as a SF NCO,and didn't know enough to lay on the air cover and swap call signs and radio freqs BEFORE taking off on the mission. One you are ass-deep in Indians it's too damn late to start arranging for support,

This sort of thing MUST be done prior to leaving your base camp, and it MUST be done by the people who are going to be on the ground in leadership positions.

This is especially true when you are trying to call in fast movers whose pilots speak another language, have probably never trained with SF troops, don't know their tactics, and who come under the command of another Air Force.

And don't try to blame the poor SSG goober on the ground that had this dumped in his lap and was ordered to do it. He was and is completely innocent. It's not his fault he didn't know what to do because it wasn't his job to do that and he had never been trained to do that.

If you want to know who to blame, look around for someone in that command structure that is either a LTC or a Colonel.

If American military lives are at risk in any country without the approval and knowledge of the CIC/POTUS, then somebody isn't doing their job.

Why are we there according to the POTUS?

I have to ask, why do we have troops there in the first place ? What is so important there to US interests that we need to expend American blood & treasure ?

I thought Trump stated in the campaign that he was going to bring our troops home ?

You have never been in the military, have you?

Presidents are "big picture" people. They don't involve themselves with the operations of small units.

Nor should they, since none of them know a damn thing about small unit infantry operations. Or large unit operations,AFATG. With the exception of Eisenhower,of course.

I'd be surprised if he was even informed about that operation until after it had already gone bad,and turned from a military operation into a political discussion.

Good questions,both of them.

I can only hope the answer to the second question is because he has only been in office for a year, and been too busy putting out other fires.

BTW,SF troops deployments are unlike other troop deployments. They deploy to foreign countries to teach the armies there how to fight for themselves. When they do get into firefights,it is because they are accompanying a unit of the national army as advisors when it gets into a firefight. They are there to ADVISE,and only fight when they have to.

The obvious exception is the Muddle East, where our government loves to waste that talent by sending them in on raids.

Do they involve themselves in the decisions about which sovereign nations the assets under their command operate in - or is that just delegated to the swamp these days?

Of course. That's "Big Picture" stuff.

I understand that. I understand the training part. It sounds like either a LTC or a bird did some piss poor planning, and no proper support, as you mentioned. I do not like to see our blood & treasure being wasted, especially the blood.

I was under the impression that was going to change. Oh well.

Unfortunately our military has been taken over by the PC crowd that finally got their agents promoted into command positions in the US Military. They are protected by the political creatures that put them in those positions, and nothing can be done about it until and unless an actual revolution occurs. IF that happens, they will either be the first to execute,or the first to be executed by their fellow professionals.

Sadly, the people that give them their orders from Capitol Hill will not be under official suspicion, and they will survive to plot another day.

Probably.
