A former Harris County prosecutor withheld a key email that helped establish a clear alibi for Alfred Dewayne Brown in the high-profile murder case that eventually sent him to death row, District Attorney Kim Ogg said late Friday.
Brown, now 36, spent nearly 10 years awaiting execution before his case was dismissed and he was freed in 2015. He later sued Harris County, the DA's office, the prosecutor and police officer who handled the murder case, among others.
The explosive revelation raises new questions about Brown's wrongful conviction and the conduct of Dan Rizzo, the prosecutor who put him on death row.
Brown's legal team exulted at the new information.

Then he should receive the maximum sentence that Alfred was eligible for. Plus 2 years.

I agree. Good luck getting any legislature to pass such stringent laws against prosecutorial malfeasance. I also favor stiffer penalties for false accusers and hate crime hoaxers and SWATters.

That DA should immediately receive an active prison sentence of 10 years, with no time off for good behavior, and everything he owns should be seized and sold with the proceeds going to Brown.
And anybody and everybody that can be connected to this coverup should join him in prison for an equal sentence, and have all of their possessions sold with the money going to Brown.
You can't stop this from happening again unless you make the consequences of being caught at it too brutal to contemplate, and nobody deserves "sentences too brutal to contemplate" than those that run the system and purposely destroy the lives of people they KNOW to be innocent of the charges they are facing.
