Jerusalem (AFP) - Israel issued stark warnings on Sunday over Iran's presence in neighbouring Syria after a confrontation threatened to open a new and unpredictable period in the country's seven-year civil war.
Israel carried out major air raids in Syria on Saturday, including against what it described as Iranian targets -- the first time it had publicly acknowledged doing so since the war began.
The raids came after an Israeli F16 fighter was shot down by Syrian air defences. The pilots survived, but it was Israel's first loss of a warplane in battle since 1982.

They dispatched several jets to deal with the threat which they did promptly. On the return to Israel, they were being shot at by Iranian/Hezbollah antiaircraft missiles. One jet was hit as it came back over the Syrian border and the jet crashed on Israeli territory, the two pilots parachuted, one was almost unscathed, the other was in critical condition in an Israeli hospital.
It's worth keeping in mind that the Western intel agencies are certain that Hezbollah has at least 40,000 missiles they could fire at Israel. Some locally produced, many others from Iran and other sources. Many estimates of Hezbollah missile numbers go up to 60K or 70K. What we know for certain is that they do have many tens of thousands of missiles that can be used to attack Israel in strategic depth.
Mossad is not fooled. This was a probing attack by Iran on Israel's defenses to determine their trigger levels for taking action against a foe deploying a new threat to Israel's security.

Israeli Officials Try to Spin Attacks as Targeting Iran
Israeli officials have been carrying out large-scale attacks against several military sites within Syria, claiming to have done major damage to Syrias air defenses nationwide. The Israeli Air Force described the attack as the most significant attack on Syria since 1982. Israels F-16 crashed in Lower GalileeThe incident started with Israeli shooting down a small drone from the Syrian military research site that theyve repeatedly attacked in recent weeks, a site they claim is an Iranian base. The drone crossed into Israeli airspace. Israel responded with airstrikes against Syria, as it so often does.
But Syrias air defenses were a bit more successful this time, and one of Israels F-16s managed to crash. Whether it was hit by an anti-aircraft missile or just took shrapnel damage, the warplane crashed in Israel, and one of the pilots was hurt.
Israel responded to this with massive attacks against Syria, hitting four different military sites and apparently targeting air defense systems. Syria is threatening further action if Israel continues to attack, while Israeli officials insist the attacks will continue.
Interestingly, almost all Israeli officials are presenting this to the public as an attack on Iran, as opposed to Syria, and are now calling all of the Syrian military bases thatve been attacked are Iranian bases.
Some Israeli analysts are warning that this is a very dangerous rhetorical strategy, as Russian officials have been trying to calm the situation, and with Israel both continuing to escalate and making it about Iran, they may be pushing Russia into a more explicitly pro-Iran stance.
The US State Department seems to be fine with however many attacks Israel wants to conduct, and is buying the Iran narrative hook, line, and sinker. In a statement endorsing further Israeli attacks as self-defense, the State Department didnt even mention Syria, instead railing on about what a threat Iran poses.
This puts the post-attack rhetoric in a bizarre place, with Syria bragging that they sent a clear message in downing the Israeli warplane, and Israel skipping right over Syria in official statements and trying to make it into a war with Iran.

Survey says...
==========
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Israel are the most advanced in the Middle East, and one of the most advanced in Asia.[1] Although same-sex sexual activity was legalized in 1988, the former law against sodomy had not been enforced since a court decision of 1963.[2]

In the Old Testament the real Israelites would have been heading off for another 40 year punitive vacation in the desert.... or into captivity by their enemies, again.

Selling spirits on credit.
Just a coinkidink prohibition ended the same year the spirit vendors were starving 6-10 million people to death with a genocidal famine.
No surprise where Adolphe Coors learned his craft, either.
