ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Former President George W. Bush said on Thursday that theres pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled in the 2016 American presidential election, forcefully rebutting fellow Republican Donald Trumps denials of Moscow trying to affect the vote.
While never mentioning President Trump by name, Bush appeared to be pushing back on Trumps attempts to have warmer relations with Russia, as well as his comments on immigration.
The White House did not immediately comment on Bushs remarks.
Theres pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled, Bush said at a talk in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Whether they affected the outcome is another question.
Bush also said that its problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system. Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results.
U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded Russia meddled in the 2016 election to help Trump win. Numerous investigations are under way to determine whether Trumps campaign aided the Kremlin in its efforts.
Trump has repeatedly denied any collusion with Russia.
Speaking of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bush called him zero-sum.
Hes got a chip on his shoulder, Bush said of Putin. The reason he does is because of the demise of the Soviet Union troubles him. Therefore, much of his moves (are) to regain Soviet hegemony.
Bush also stressed the need to back NATO and other alliances the U.S. has with the world.
Putin is pushing, constantly pushing, probing weaknesses, the former president said. Thats why NATO is very important.
Bush also criticized Trumps decision to scrap a program implemented by former President Barack Obamas administration that allows young immigrants living in the U.S. illegally who were brought here as children to remain in America.
Americas their home, the 43rd American president said. Theyve got to get it fixed.
Bush acknowledged that he tried to overhaul Americas broken immigration system, but failed.
There are people willing to do jobs that Americans wont do, he said. Americans dont want to pick cotton at 105 degrees (Fahrenheit), but there are people who want put food on their familys tables and are willing to do that. We ought to say thank you and welcome them.
Bush in 2008 became the first sitting U.S. president to visit the UAE. He spoke Thursday at a summit in Abu Dhabi put on by the Milken Institute, an economic think tank based in California.
He made his comments while in a conversation with Michael Milken, known as the king of high-risk junk bonds in the 1980s. Milken pleaded guilty to securities-law violations in 1990 and served 22 months in prison. He agreed in a settlement with the SEC to a lifetime ban from the securities industry and paid a $200 million fine.
Milken, who is a prostate cancer survivor, and his family have given hundreds of millions of dollars away in recent decades. Forbes magazine estimates Milken, 71, is now worth some $3.6 billion.

Most farmers LOVE Dims because it was and is the Dims who give them all that farm welfare money to not plant crops or cut timber.
A local farmer ran for county commissioner a few years back on a "I am going back on spending because the government gives too much money away!" platform.
He had to drop out before the election when it was revealed he was pulling in more than a million bucks each year in Farm Aid programs to NOT grow crops.
Pretty much every big farmer you see these days is a Millionaire Marxist that rants and raves about welfare, but oddly enough doesn't see the land band and timber bank programs as welfare for the wealthy.
Go figure,huh?

Never going to happen. For one thing, there is no such critter as a family farm anymore. They are all corporate farms. Some/most of the bigger ones are owned by majority stockholders who have never farmed a day in their lives, unless you consider picking stocks to be farming cash.

My wife has cousins who still farm. None of the small milking operations like she grew up on are still operating though.
The local corporate cheese factory refused to deal with anyone not having some minimum number of cow. All the little guys got driven out of business.

Yes, of course. FR's JR also called the cokehead part right early and often. It wasn't until later on that we all added 2+2 on the homo-alky portion, a W who seemed emotionally stunted or abused.
... because he is also a fundie Christian homo.
Now why must you go here with the "Christian fundie" crap?
Firstly, I can't say I know what Dubya's faith was/is, but he or his handlers wanted to portray him as a Christian. As a matter of political expediency.
Secondly, THE USA is now a chaotic mess, bereft of any moral or ethical standards; insanely confused, divided and Balkinized...
So why is that?
It appears we CAN thank the militant Atheists and secular humanist crowds who've been major advocates to turn the entire USA into San Francisco. They've managed to normaliz moral relativity and depravity, justified pathological lying, making the entire Dem Party Communist, and half the (R) Party lying globalist whores...
It appears we can also thank/blame the militant Atheists and humanist crowds for normalizing trannies and rife faggotry; for feminizing boys; for dressing up their children as mini-trannies; For criminalizing and slandering "whites"; for instituting "Hate Speech & Crimes"; for rewarding "victims," the petty and small, bullies, and big mouths who won't respect privacy or free speech; for normalizing the hatred of LE and a patriotic military; for normalizing subversion throughout a formerly polite society as militant Atheists/secular humanists have attempted to drive out Christians, and you know -- those you hate, "Fundies" -- from the Public Square.
You've sown it, now you get to reap its aftermath. WOO-HOO!!
So as your ilk insist on cheering on the demonizing and driving out Christians, whose philosophical descendants were our Founders, our nation's moderating influence upon morality and ethics in the USA (we've seen how that's worked out in Muslim-owned Europe) will disappear into the dark fog. Institutions and society will continue to crumble before our very eyes and devolve into mega-chaos, division, and confusion. And then something horrible will fill the void.

You can't be a fundie Christian who is a homosexual and not have emotional problems. Just being a homosexual is an emotional problem all by itself. Add the stress of "Ahma gonna go to HELL!" to the equation, and it's a slam dunk.

ROFLMAO! Blame you God for homosexuality. People are born homosexual, just like people are born heterosexual,or even asexual. According to the Bible Thumpers,we are all made in God's image,so blame him.

For example, about a decade ago outside of San Francissyco, a special farm was operated for purposes of catering to the SF wierdos. One of the members who was eager to have sex with a stallion was ripped apart by the animal's large member and then he was crushed when the stallion fell on him after the unusual sex act.

You're speculating. Bad speculation at that. No one actually truly knows what W believes.
Maybe W's drunkenness and drug use is all about being a spoiled brat, never being taught the price for being selfish, irresponsible and stupid. His "guilt" could be for a thousand different things; We all carry some degree of guilt, but we don't act and do what he does, do we?
You can't be a fundie Christian who is a homosexual and not have emotional problems. Just being a homosexual is an emotional problem all by itself. Add the stress of "Ahma gonna go to HELL!" to the equation, and it's a slam dunk.
As you note in your second sentence, being a queer creates emotional problems on its own. No "fundie Christian" faith needed.
There are plenty of reasons, "Ahma gonna go to HELL!" other than practicing homosexuality. Moreover, IF one is "stressed" over a sin, doesn't that tell you one *knows* it's wrong?
A lot of the original settlers came her to escape the religious police states established in Europe. You know, people like "your ilk" that terrorized Europe for centuries with their religious courts and executions for heresy.
I don't have time or patience to re-repeat actual history instead of humoring your constant revisionist fantasy BS.
The truth is nobody can make anybody a homosexual. You are either born with homosexual inclinations,or you're not.
In SOME cases I'd agree with you; But YES, homosexuals CAN be created. Either by early childhood abuse, predatory grooming of the weak; indoctrination and brainwashing by the power of suggestion; trendy encouragement for the "curious" and bored; sexual narcissism; JAIL; or as a result of a combo or ALL of the above.
Nobody is born a superstitious fool, though. That has to be learned.
And yet you still reject what 95% of all people believe innately; That there IS some Power or God greater than us, that man has always worshiped it.
Even Satanists of Occultists know that there are unseen forces that exist.
Btw, you claim to be "agnostic," which means you are unsure of whether there is or is not a God. Is that your position? Because agnosticism would still make you "superstitious". To be totally un-superstitious you would have to declare yourself, "Atheist."

I believe Boy Jorge's wife is his personal handler. She is as much of a One World leftie as Babs is,and we are supposed to believe this quiet and shy librarian...
I don't believe Babs Jr. is his handler. She is a vacuous Stepford Wife with severe problems of her own. Like her own beverage problem. A gay hubby. And other personal stuff...
W's handlers probably seem to be many, which is why he's lost his own identity. His speculative homosexuality would be one reason he can be controlled or manipulated so easily.
The entire Bush Crime Family is populated with borderline idiot weak males, and strong, intelligent women. How and why all this isn't obvious to anyone remains a constant mystery to me.

Your words not mine.
I'm just reminding you that when you use the word, "superstitious," statistically and historically, man has vastly believed in a Greater Power than he. That's from Babylonian times till now.
And again FWIW, it is as a result of Western Judeo-Christian philosophy which extolled the Bibles virtues that we'd advanced in all ways -- including liberty and freedom -- that we're even having this convo. OR an "America" to begin with.
Historically, yes some things went off the rails. (And people still stray from "WWJD?") But that's only because evil acts were authorized through the Vatican, power-plays done "in the name of Jesus Christ" usurping his "authority" -- which were NOT what he preached or been sanctioned by Jesus himself. To be honest and fair about history, you must note that distinction.
Serious question. You've claimed to be "agnostic" -- I'm not trying to bust your balls. Are you one or just an Atheist? There IS a difference.
