BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- Burbank police are looking for a woman suspected of stealing a purse from an elderly woman in an electric scooter while she was shopping at Ralphs.

Police say video shows the 82-year-old victim moving through the store Tuesday morning in an electric scooter, with her purse on the floor board. As she reached up to grab an item from a shelf, the suspect reached down, grabbed her purse and took off.

She is believed to have fled the store in an older white four-door Lexus GS sedan with chrome rims, driven by an accomplice.

Surveillance video images show a woman suspected of stealing a purse from an elderly woman on a scooter at a Ralphs in Burbank on Sept. 12, 2017.

The victim's purse was later found dumped near Buena Vista and Vanowen streets, with credit cards, ID, money and other items missing.

The victim's credit cards were used to spend thousands of dollars in purchases at Target and Lowe's stores, believed to be at Burbank's Empire Center.

Police described the suspect as an African American female, 20-30 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 110-130 pounds, with brown hair in a ponytail. She was wearing a black T-shirt, ripped blue jeans with black leggings underneath and black shoes.

Because of the victim's age, the suspect may also face elder abuse charges, police say.

"And since the purse was in such close proximity to her - it was only the scooter but it was within arms' reach - we could look at a grand theft person, which is also a felony," said Sgt. Derek Green of the Burbank Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to call Burbank police at (818)238-3210. Anonymous tips can be provided to LA Crime Stoppers at (800)222-TIPS.

What does that go for, $50K? Crime pays.

The Lexus may have also been stolen.

I see some Lexus GS base models going under $10K online.

Still, the phrase "Speeding away from the purse snatching in a Lexus" sounds ... odd.

I know. That's why I suggested it could be stolen.

Isnt this a race crime since it was a black woman stealing from a white woman?

Isn't this all it takes to be a race crime in a progressive world is to a create a crime against another race!

Nah. She'd steal from anyone.

But she did qualify for the bonus round -- not only grand theft person but elder abuse (theft) since the victim was over 65 years old.

"Theft from elder or dependent adult is charged under PC 368(d). PC 386(d) may be charged as a misdemeanor or as a felony depending on the amount of money stolen and the defendant's criminal history. For PC 368(d)(1), the defendant may face up to 1 year in jail as a misdemeanor and up to 4 years in prison as a felony."
