When asked if it would effect her standing the the fall election with the BRexit plebiscite and the immigration crisis griping Europe, along with last years defeat of Hillary Clinton by Donald Trump. Merkel stoutly defended her decision to support the gay marriage bill, and said that she will miss Hillary, although they are "just good friends."
