Police in Albuquerque say a man has been found alive with his hands nailed to a tree in a forest.

They say officers received a call around 8:30 a.m. Monday about an injured man on the east bank of the Rio Grande.

Police say they found a man standing in front of a tree with his hands next to his shoulders and each of his hands had one nail through it.

The Albuquerque Journal reports the nails were about 3 inches long and the man wasn't bleeding when officers found him.

Police removed the man from the tree and took him to a hospital.

His name hasn't been released.

Police don't know how long the man had been in the bosque or how he ended up nailed to a tree.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest it involved a hammer,a nail, and a tree.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest it involved a hammer,a couple of nails, and a tree. Maybe even a religious ceremony.

Who are you to judge this poor man?

If he had his dick and balls cut off and insisted that everyone call him Caitlyn, would you make such cheap cracks about his self-realized gender identity?

More seriously, I would guess this is someone with a crucifixion fetish and that chances are fairly high that he is a Catholic Filipino or has a lot of contact with them.

I'll point out that we've had such stories before over at LP. This is reminiscent of the Shi'ites who bloody their heads every year as a religious rite, another ugly fetishistic practice of alleged piety (Ashura). Both involve big crowds, bloodletting and cutting/penetration of the flesh as a holy re-enactment or spiritual experience.
