Ogden Police say that a dog attack led to an accidental shooting on Hutchings Road.
Police say that people were out walking a dog. That is when another dog from another house in the neighborhood reportedly got loose and attacked the dog the people were walking.
According to police, one of the individuals walking allegedly tried to shoot the attacking dog using a legally permitted gun, but accidentally shot another person they were walking with in the lower extremity.
Police say the person shot was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They say that the attacking dog is dead, while the dog that was attacked is reportedly fine.
Police tell us that the incident remains under investigation at this time.

Fire the bastard cop that did this heinous misdeed and charge him with attempted murder.
The cop responsible for the shooting of the innocent bystander cannot even shoot straight and hits a person when aiming at a dog.
This is gross, absolutely GROSS.
It indicates all cops need retraining in the use of firearms.
This cop should be charged with attempted murder.
This incident proves once again that cops hate dogs and want to just go around shooting them.
He could have used pepper spray or mace instead of shooting at the dog.
A grossly terrible thing happened here, another innocent person was shot by an irresponsible cop.
What is America coming to with all the militarization?
The facists have taken control and we have truly become a police state.
Will this militarization never end

OMG, I missed that .thanks.
And of course it had to be a certified ADA service dog, which required the dog to pass behavioral tests without showing signs of aggression
Which someone so demonstratively emphasized with bold print reinforced by underlining.
Those dogs simply dont attack .do they?
We have been repeatedly and explicitly informed that .havent we?

I dunno. Isn't the Sabbath still supposed to be a day of rest? : )
Maybe we could just find a man-bites-dog story instead and have a peaceful Sunday.

An easy mistake to make since LF is continually flooded with so many Dog Down stories.
Ah, here is the Ogden story about a pit bull you may be recalling:

BTW no dogs do not always go after the ankle. As a person who has been attacked many times they go for whatever is available. They can even jump and attack. Especially with packs of dogs they try to knock you down so you can not get away.
Gee a hispanic name and pit in the same sentence! Say it ain't so! /s

Thanks .good sleuthing.
Damn, I hate wife shooters .even the accidental ones.
In this day and time, we can make no allowances for accidents.
After your day of rest, maybe we can start a LF Crusade Against Wife Shooters.
Ya think Deckard would accept chairmanship of such a noble cause?
We could ask him

After years and years of repeatedly reading his nauseating articles along with the adjectives and phrases that became so common he should have copyrighted them .it was a no brainer easy task.

I only read the headline but my initial reaction is "the officer needed more target practice or there would have been no need to euthanize that pitbull."

Maybe. But dogs are a lot more popular than wives in online articles. : )
OTOH, wives are probably more popular than pitbulls. So...I dunno.

Proving of course that pit bulls are not only vicious, but they also have tough impenetrable shoulders.
At the angle the shot was fired, the bullet should have continued through the shoulder directly into the heart.
Ill bet the euthanizing that Devil was no easy task either

Isn't it funny how often these dogs "accidentally" escape the residence or yard they are supposed to be in?
It is a recurring feature of these stories. We read it over and over.
