Because of 48 states still using the winner-take-all method of allotting electoral votes so as to magnify a presidential victory, so as to confer a mandate and more legitimacy on winners of close elections, Trump got a comfortable margin of of 300 electoral votes, far from a landslide but not a dead-even tie plus one vote either.
