WASHINGTON — A North Carolina man shot a rifle inside a pizza parlor in Washington over a political conspiracy theory, the Washington Post reports.

The conspiracy theory stemmed from a fake news story about the Comet Ping Pong Restaurant. The set of stories, deemed PizzaGate, alleged that the restaurant and its owner were connected to a child sex trafficking operation, according to CNN.

CNN reports the man admitted the fake news led him to the restaurant.

Police said the man was Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, of Salisbury, North Carolina.

According to the Washington Post, he took a gun into the shop and pointed it at an employee, then fired a shot inside the restaurant.

Nearby businesses were placed on lockdown during the incident. Welch was arrested without incident, according to the Washington Post.

Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, of Salisbury, North Carolina....

...is a complete and utter moron who was probably paid to commit that crime. If not, then he is just one of those run-of-the-mill morons. Either way, he should have been gunned down in the current "he has a gun; shoot him" fashion that the police behave in nowadays.

There are morons who get paid to write fake news and there are morons who spread the fake news for free. Then there are the run-of-the –mill morons who actually believe what they read in the fake news. Either way, they are all blathering idiots.

I don’t agree with you that they should all be “gunned down.” They should be maligned in a spitefully critical manner and their agenda exposed so they can be enlightened in the form of new enhanced consciousness and their perceptive faculty enlarged.

their agenda exposed

Your agenda here has been exposed - you have sided with the corporate media and are parroting their propaganda about the alternative news sites who expose their lies. That's what this "fake news" psy-op is all about shill.

Who is Behind “Fake News”? Mainstream Media Use Fake Videos and Images

The mainstream corporate media is desperate.

They want to suppress independent and alternative online media, which it categorizes as “fake news”.

Readers on social media are warned not to go onto certain sites.

The intent of this initiative is to smear honest reporting and Truth in Media.

Our analysis confirms that the mainstream media are routinely involved in distorting the facts and turning realities upside down.

They are the unspoken architects of “Fake News”.

The Washington Post: Useful-Idiot Shills for a Failed, Frantic Status Quo That Has Lost Control of the Narrative

Labeling everyone who dissents or questions the ruling elite’s narrative as tools of an enemy power is classic McCarthy-era witch-hunting, i.e. a broad-brush way of marginalizing and silencing critics with an accusation that is easy to fabricate but difficult to prove.

Such unsupported slander is a classic propaganda technique. It has more in common with Nazi propaganda than with real journalism.

The real useful-idiot shills are the editors and hacks paid by the Washington Post, who are busy penning articles such as “Why the electoral college should choose Hillary Clinton”. Isn’t this fundamentally a call to over-ride the Constitutional framework of the republic’s democracy?

In other words, the ruling elite’s candidate lost, so let’s subvert democracy to “right this terrible wrong” that was wrought by fed-up debt-serfs.

Substitution is a useful technique to reveal propaganda: if Trump had lost by a thin margin, would the The Washington Post publish an article “Why the electoral college should choose Donald Trump”?

Any site suggesting such an outlandish subversion of American democracy would of course by labeled Russian-controlled propaganda by The Washington Post. In other words, it’s OK for the organs of Imperial Propaganda to call for the subversion of the Constitution, but if someone else dares to do so, you know the drill: they’re labeled a tool of Russian propaganda.

Just as a reminder, this is the status quo / ruling elite’s handiwork The Washington Post shills/propagandists support: a status quo of institutionalized privilege, corruption and systemically soaring wealth and income inequality:

I was being a tad bit sarcastic... I was lamenting on the fact that the trigger-happy crew in blue decided not to shoot someone that is armed, yet unarmed people get the lead all the time.

I need to use /sarc tag more often.

Anyways, thanks for not ripping my little comment to shreds. It's nice to have peaceful disagreements where the poster can clarify their objectives and motives. :)

I knew that you were being sarcastic....I merely used it as a srping board for my post.

Who is Behind “Fake News”?

A comprehensive list of who is behind fake news:

Your list was decided upon by the corporate media propaganda outlets whose influence on shaping the narrative is based on lies.

You really want to KNOW who is behind the "fake news" psy-op?

Meet The Leftist Professor Who Wrote The 'Hit List' Of "Fake News" Sites

Actually, Fake News, also called News Satire is a type of parody presented in a format typical of mainstream journalism, and calledsatire because of its content.

Not all of the sites listed as "Fake News" are satire. Most are alternative sites run by tireless, dedicated, truth-seeking journalists (real journalists, not the kind you trust).

"Fake News" used in this context is a term created by the leftist media (working from a "list" created by a leftist professor) because the alternative media were instrumental in enabling Hillary's defeat.

Zimdars published and circulated a list of “fake, false, or regularly misleading websites that are shared on Facebook and social media.” She said she began writing the list because she didn’t approve of the sources her students were citing.

The problem?

In addition to some satirical and bogus sites, her list attacks the credibility of well-established news organizations such as Breitbart, BizPac Review, Red State, the Blaze, the Independent Journal Review, Twitchy, the Daily Wire, WND and James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas. In many cases (such as with her WND listing), she offers no explanation for why the news organizations were included on the list.

Mainstream media outlets such as the Los Angeles Times circulated Zimdars’ growing list. The Times headlined its story, “Want to keep fake news out of your newsfeed? College professor creates list of sites to avoid.” The Times offered no details concerning Zimdars’ qualifications or background.

News organizations such as CNN, the Washington Post, Boston Globe, New York Magazine, USA Today, Business Insider, the Austin American-Statesman, the Dallas Morning News and others spread the list like gospel and cited it in their reports.

You're too stupid to realize that many of what you refer to as "fake news" sites (Infowars for one) were instrumental in getting Trump elected - that's the reason the psy-op was instigated.

Paul Joseph Watson Blasts The MSM: "You're The F**king Experts Of Fake News"

In addition to some satirical and bogus sites, her list attacks the credibility of well-established news organizations such as Breitbart

Oh, "Breitbart", huh?

Hey, didn't Trump name former Breitbart executive Steve Bannon as his chief strategist and Senior Counselor?

Quick Gatlin! Get on the phone and let Donald know that he has appointed a purveyor of "fake news".

Geesh...you are such an establishment tool!

The set of stories, deemed PizzaGate

You might consider researching that particular topic before you ignorantly write it off as a "conspiracy theory".

But knowing you - it's very unlikely you ever will.

More's the pity.

[...]

The armed Salisbury man who caused a panic in Washington DC for trying to “self-investigate” a conspiracy involving Hillary Clinton has an arrest record for drug and alcohol offenses.

[...]

Welch, who is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, told police he was there to “self-investigate” a conspiracy which likely involved internet rumors that Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign operated a sex ring out of the site’s basement. The hoax conspiracy, known as “pizzagate,” is a fake news story that emerged during the presidential election.

[...]

North Carolina arrest records for an Edgar Maddison Welch date back to 2007, and include charges of possession of up to a half ounce of marijuana, possession of controlled substances, driving after consuming alcohol and driving with an open container of alcohol. He plead guilty on the alcohol and drug charges.

In October, Welch is alleged to have struck a 13-year-old with a car on Harrison Road in Salisbury, according to a WBTV story. He stayed at the scene, it was reported. Officials said the victim suffered head, torso and leg injuries.

Reports emerged late Sunday that Welch might be a struggling actor, with a resume that includes a half dozen minor jobs on film productions, including being an extra and production assistant.
