For myself, I prefer a single Windsor knot.

Windsor was standard for the Catholic HS I went to. Not many young men or even adult men can tie such a knot. My dad being a Navy man knew his knots and taught me to tie a sharp Windsor. Now I am the family expert for my sons and nephews, and younger cousins. I spent the last two family funerals retying knots for youngsters. They love the sharp look and now can do it for themselves.

Most men with neat Windsor knots have clip on ties. Take a pull on a few and see what happens. :)

I would say the hardest thing about it is getting the skinny end and fat end the right length when you start.

Precisely.

When I interviewed for my post military retirement job my now boss kept staring at the Windsor. :) Guess it impressed him.

Are you sure it wasn't the drool?

The Windsor definitely looks good.

When I worked for the state, we used the clip ons. A lot easier. I took it with me into the military, and when wearing dress greens, I used the clip on.

Yes the Windsor is a much better knot than the alternatives because it looks neat and uniform and denotes a person who takes the time with his appearance. Unfortunately not all ties are of sufficient length because of bulky fabric or cheap production to allow the knot to be tied properly

That's why I go with a single Windsor. It's not as neat as a full Windsor, but I can adjust it to where there is not much discernable difference.
