Trump: Banning Muslim immigration is 'just a suggestion'

May 11th 2016 10:47PM

Remember when Donald Trump called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our representatives can figure out what the hell is going on" during a campaign event?

Well, that proclamation was apparently just a suggestion. In a Fox News Radio interview, Trump slightly backed away from a policy he's stood by for months: A blanket ban on Muslim immigration.

Trump told Brian Kilmeade: "It's a temporary ban. It hasn't been called for yet. Nobody's done it. This is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on."

And later on FOX News, Trump said: "That's why it was temporary. Sure, I'd back off on it. I'd like to back off on it as soon as possible because, frankly, I'd like to see something happen.

Poster's note:If he doesn't know what's going on at this stage of his campaign, he's asleep at the switch. Tell him to call me and I'll tell him. That son of a bitch is beginning to sound more like Obama and Hellary every day. I don't need or want that. He's turning out to be nothing but a fence straddling bull shitter.

He's campaigning to win the election, and now that he has secured the R nomination, has to appeal to the D voters.

Of course, that's what it was. Even if he was president, he would have no authority to ban Muslims. It was just a point that members of that scumbag religion need to be thoroughly vetted.

Two or three times a week aa bomb goes off in Bagdad killing 80. To 200 eace time. We have bombers immigrating, not beloved Muslims. Maybe soft hearted liberals can differante between the good and evil bombers.

Robert, I share your frustration. Some times, Trump makes some very good, logical positions. Then, turns around and takes some really dumb ass positions.

Coming soon - Trump : "Building a wall and deporting illegals is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on".

I hope you are wrong. If you are correct, his supporter base will evaporate.

Much like with his tax plan and minimum wage Trump just said that to get GOP primary votes, so he and his manager can brag now about how many votes he got. ...so now other Republicans must bow to the almighty Trump who got so many votes.

Given that it worked and the others all gave up, now those promises can all be abandoned for new ones more popular with non-Republicans.

Heck, do Trump-kins care about anything he promises relating to policy anyway?

The sound you are hearing now is the sound of his strongest supporters sobbing in their hands.

Can't wait until some reporter asks him about the wall and Mexico paying for it.

No. He is smart enough to have inherited money,he's got cool orange hair and skin, and a aging trophy wife. He is their idol.

Hardly, you people get too wrapped in politician's promises. Why get upset when trump revises something, he's a business man and understands that he HAS to be flexible.

It's simple.

WHO THE F*CK IN THIS ELECTION HAS EVER CREATED ONE STINKING JOB, OTHER THEN HIM. everything else is just BS.

Of course - Trump's "conservatism" is no older than his serious presidential ambitions. It was a ploy and is being abandoned now that it's no longer useful.

Coming soon - Trump : "Building a wall and deporting illegals is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on".

First it was a wall ;deport all undocumented immigrants. Then it was a wall with big doors;. but bring the ‘good’ ones back legally. Dreamers can maybe stay. Then it was Dreamers can't stay . Then he admitted this was just bluster and a starting point for negotiations, saying he might not deport the undocumented immigrants. Then H-1B visas are bad for American workers. Then it was H-1B visas are good. Then he shifted again to H-1B visas are bad. Then it was H-1B visas are necessary.... ’I’m changing.’Now he's back to being against the H-1B visa program.

Then it was no Muslims should be allowed to enter the United States —as immigrants or visitors. Then it was no Muslims except my friends Muslims serving in the military.

and so on.

Hillary. She has hired probably hundreds of thugs over the years, and there are probably hundreds of people with badges working due her this very day.

And unlike Trump employees, none of them are here on HB-1 visas from foreign countries.

They recorded the conversation. Chances are good the recording itself will be leaked if the transcripts were. That is the Slimes MO

Yeah they are the Slimes. If they were honoring their word then the quote would've never seen the light of day. Just because I think they are the sleaziest rag on the planet doesn't mean the conversation didn't take place ;or that Trump did not say those words.

Editorialist Gail Collins attended the session. Her column led to the BuzzFeed article about Trump being flexible on his immigration positions :

" The most optimistic analysis of Trump as a presidential candidate is that he just doesn’t believe in positions, except the ones you adopt for strategic purposes when you’re making a deal. So you obviously can’t explain how you’re going to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants, because it’s going to be the first bid in some future monster negotiation session.

Sources familiar with the recording and transcript — which have reached near- mythical status at the Times — tell me that the second sentence is a bit more than speculation. It reflects, instead, something Trump said about the flexibility of his hardline anti-immigration stance."

The thing I am almost certain about is that the transcripts or the audio recording will be released during the fall campaign.
