John Kasich's D.C. allies are holding a large meet-and-greet political briefing Wednesday afternoon with GOP operatives and donors, according to multiple sources.
Ohio Sen. Rob Portman is headlining the event. He will be joined by Kasich senior strategist John Weaver and veteran Republican operative Charlie Black at the 4 p.m. gathering at the American Trucking Association's Capitol Hill townhouse. Black will be discussing Kasich's convention strategy, according to the invite.

He was mostly useful as a hardnosed budget guy with good connections to House leadership. Which is the part of his resume that he cites. And he doesn't mention stuff like Brady bill and attending homo weddings (which were the kinds of things that helped get him elected in OH).

I don't see what Portman did to help any state or the feds in recognizing homo marriage. He only mentioned in 2012 that his son had come out to the family as gay and that he supported his son. And that is about all that he said.
