Aren't you the least bit concerned about your bestest bud here being caught hiding behind other ID's? Why that's blatant lying and dishonesty, and should be reported.

I'm getting the best tomatoes that I have ever had and the Stella Dora's finally took off.

Also the fence plantings that I did in past years - honey suckle and trumpet vine - are starting to fill in nicely so I can focus the morning glory elsewhere.

I harvested the fava beans last week. One has to be in a zen space to process them guys.

Honey suckle smells wonderful.

Silence of the lambs, Clarrise...

I stick to tomatoes and herbs; although, one year I bought some Silver Queen corn from one of those roadside stands in Delaware. While I was paying, I mentioned to the woman that I loved it so much that I wished I could grow it in my back yard. She told me to wait a minute and when she returned, she gave me a half dozen or so seeds - she took me literally!!!

I planted them the next year and got 4 good plants and about 9 ears of DELICIOUS corn...

I hate liver!

There is nothing like just picked corn.

NOTHING.

I love liver. Problem is, no one else in the house does. I buy the frozen and will cook up a slice with some potatoes and carmalized onions and sometimes some bacon when I'm the only one eating.

When we first bought the house in '94, I transplanted a dwarf peach tree that I had in the back of the old house into one of those Jack Daniels barrels that you could buy @ Home Depot. The peaches had a slight flavor of whiskey to them that year...very funny.

I lost that tree in the blizzard of 1996. A snow drift covered up the thing and smothered it, I guess...that's what I figured any way...

It was probably close to being rootbound and they got froze.

I was bummed. I bought it when I moved in with Mrs. WAR in '89 and I just kept it in an old toy box there. I yanked it out when we moved and bought the barrel for it. That thing didn't put out a lot of fruit but it put out very good fruit.

I've grown strawberries too but it the racoons and the rabbit and the possum get them before I do.

We have standard peaches, nectarines, apples and an apricot. I fertilized the apricot too late last year it, and it put on some late fruiting spur growth which was killed with the early frost. So no apricots this year. With the damp spring everything else has had every fungus and blight on earth, but they are doing fine now that the weather is warmer and dry.

I think my 100 year old apricot is finally done for. Its been on the way out for years, but I think the late rains did the old girl in.

That's one old apricot tree. Save a fews twigs from it and try to grow one from the cuttings. You might contact someone from the Master Gardeners program in Santa Clara County and see if they are interested in obtaining some cuttings for their members for grafting. It sounds like it's a heritage tree with some good traits worth preserving.

Thank you for the suggestion, I never would have thought of that.

The fruit from that tree is the best I've ever eaten.

My understanding or arboreal botany is next to nil but when I read that I was wondering if grafting would help.
