Sarah and Todd Palin's horse First Dude finishes in third place at Belmont Stakes Former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin and husband Todd Two First Dudes and a pit bull wearing lipstick showed up at the Belmont Stakes Saturday. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, who was known as Alaska's First Dude while she was governor, made a surprise appearance at the storied race, but their pick, First Dude, finished a disappointing third. Drosselmeyer pulled off a stunning victory, surging past First Dude and runner-up Fly Down in the home stretch. Earlier, Palin said she was ecstatic to root for the horse named after her husband. "Of course, we love the name of the horse," Palin exclaimed. "And we're excited First Dude's gonna get a chance to race." The Palins swept into the raceway about 4 p.m., hours later than planned. The couple's limo driver got lost during the ride from Kennedy Airport, leaving them with no time to stop off at their hotel to change. "We're excited to be here," said Sarah Palin, who was decked out in navy capri pants, a white T-shirt and black cap. "We're gonna bet on First Dude." How much? The GOP star, who has made millions since resigning as Alaska governor, was coy. "Oh, it's all relative, isn't it?" Palin said. "Big for us isn't much." "More than a buck," added the Todd Palin, wearing cowboy boots and a pink plaid shirt. More than 45,000 people filled Belmont Park to take in the third leg of racing's Triple Crown. The thrilling race sent Peter Marinello, 32, leaping out of his seat. "It doesn't get any better than this," said Marinello, a doorman from the Bronx who bet $30 on the three placing horses and won a payout of $744.25. "This is amazing." Marvin Metz, 88, wasn't quite so lucky. He bet $1,000 on the favored Ice Box, who placed sixth. "I never cry when I lose but I have thrills when I win," said Metz, of Kew Gardens, Queens. "Hey, I just love it."

I don't understand his bet or bets. Did he hit the Trifecta?
Running second was #5 Fly Down Fly Down paid $6.80 and $5.10 Third in the Belmont was #11 First Dude First Dude paid $4.90 The 7-5 Exacta paid $144.50 The 7-5-11 Trifecta paid $766.00 The 7-5-11-8 Superfecta paid $10,658.00 I still don't see how the guy's $30 bet paid $744.25.
What happened to that little prop she carried around everywhere during 2008?
He's probably got his own wet nurse. I hope they keep him away from that rickety fence they built. That's a widowmaker.

A $2 4-horse trifecta box would cost $24. I'm usually pretty good with numbers, so I'm going to call your guess as close enough for goobermint work and move along.
If you $30 boxed the trifecta what would it pay? That's why all my bets are straight...

$11,490.00 would be his payout. $7,660.00 on a $20 bet. He could have done some sort of partial wheel, but still his payout of $744.25 doesn't compute with the actual payouts I listed further above. I've tried to back into it and everything. Like I said I'm moving on. Here's a possibility, two bets: He bets a $3 3 horse box it costs $18 and its a loser He also bets another 3 horse box for $2 - it costs $12 and is the winner of the $766.00 trifecta. He bet $30 and the reporter reported his winnings wrong or they subtracted two $11 beers as costs and came up with $744.25, less tip.
