International News Title: Paul McCartney Rocked Over Porn Pics (TLBSHOW Asleep at wheel) LONDON: SIR Paul McCartney yesterday remained hidden away at his Sussex farmhouse, reportedly rocked by revelations his estranged wife posed for a series of pornographic photographs. Even in his worst nightmares it is unlikely he could have envisaged Monday's front-page headline in British newspaper The Sun: "Lady Macca Hard Core Porn Shame", accompanied by a picture of a young, virtually naked Heather Mills in what is often described as a "steamy clinch" under a shower. The picture is one of a series of pornographic shots taken for a 112-page German book, Die Freuden Der Liebe ? "The Joys Of Love" ? published in 1988. More pages inside the newspaper were devoted to pictures of Mills. In one she is wearing handcuffs, in another she is smearing baby oil on the man. Other images were reportedly too explicit to be published. The latest salacious revelations are proof, if proof were needed, the divorce case of McCartney vs Mills-McCartney looks set to be one of the bloodiest and most vicious in modern history. Who gave the book to The Sun? There is some suggestion somebody spotted the book for sale on the internet and contacted the paper. So febrile are the rumours now circulating that yesterday it was even suggested a group of people close to McCartney ? unbeknownst to him ? had hired a private investigator to check out Mills' background. Whatever the reality, there were two distinctly different reactions to the pictures from the two camps yesterday. Last night, Mills-McCartney's lawyers admitted she had taken part in the erotic shoot but denied it was porn. Sources close to Sir Paul admitted he was "devastated" by the pictures as he had always believed she had been nothing more than a topless model. "There has never been evidence about what she got up to before but now Paul can see the secrets of Heather's past with his own eyes," one source said. "Until now he has always believed her when she said the stories about her past were rubbish, but now he knows one is true it is not such a leap to start believing the others. He is devastated." McCartney, 64 this month, has secured the services of the formidable $1200-an-hour barrister Nicholas Mostyn QC, known by a legion of scorned spouses as "Mr Payout". The former Beatle is also believed to have instructed the discreet but redoubtable New York showbiz law firm of Eastman & Eastman, run by the family of his late wife Linda. Sources close to McCartney said divorce proceedings were already under way. He is being supported through this traumatic period by his children from his marriage to Linda ? Mary, 36, Stella, 33, and James, 28. Stella, especially, was violently opposed to the union with Mills. There are serious concerns among the McCartney clan that Mills is a "loose cannon" and Sir Paul may suffer further damage in the future. Because of this, Stella is advising her father to offer a generous settlement. "She believes (this) will act as insurance against Paul being damaged in the future," a source said. With the McCartney fortune of $A2 billion million at stake, money will of course be a major issue but it is, sadly, Beatrice, their two-year-old daughter, who will be at the heart of the epic battle of McCartney vs Mills-McCartney. Ultimately, it was the couple's differences that led to their split. McCartney was happy to lead a low-key life out of the limelight. Mills was a restless spirit ? crusading animal rights campaigner, TV presenter, model, author, and, we now know, former porn star. She thrived on the attention. She found him boring. "I don't think it's too laughable to suggest she was bored," Mills' friend TV director Philip Goodhand-Tait reportedly said. Mills was domineering, bossy and confrontational and jealous of the adulation her husband received. She did not understand the Beatles phenomenon, which in turn "undervalued" the man she had married. She also mistook McCartney's reluctance for a fight as weakness. It appears McCartney decided he could take no more of the marriage after a particularly awful row on holiday in Switzerland in March. Now he wishes to put this disastrous ? and no doubt expensive ? episode in his life behind him as quickly as possible. Divorce lawyers on both sides are poring over documents in the hope of reaching a swift settlement. Sir Paul, certainly, does not wish to go to court. Legal experts say Mills is likely to receive anything between $A60 million and $A120 million, although there has been speculation it could be as high as $A400 million. His refusal to listen to advice to have a pre-nuptial agreement is another of Sir Paul's regrets. And then there's Mills' reputation ? always dubious ? which, with the porn pictures, has been dealt another blow. She might do well to accept a reasonable offer and go away quietly to try to retrieve what little dignity she has left. But don't bet on it. Friends say her estranged husband is planning to spend the summer at his farmhouse on the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland in search of peace of mind. That cannot be easy when you're married to the former porn star Lady Heather Mills McCartney. (1 image)
