Title: Ron Paul "has some reservations" about Arizona SB 1070

Appearing on the Alex Jones radio show May 26th discussing a variety of issues, Congressman Ron Paul said that he 'had some reservations' about Arizona's new immigration law, SB 1070. 'I have some reservations about that law, but not its' intent', remarked the former presidential candidate and libertarian icon, whose son Rand Paul just won the Republican primary race for U.S. Senate in Kentucky.

Paul is not the first conservative libertarian to voice concerns about the law. Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano disagreed with the law and predicted it would be ruled unconstitutional in the courts. Arizona's Earnest Hancock, a longtime libertarian activist and designer of the 'Ron Paul rEVOLution' logo, opposed the law for privacy concerns and had mounted a tough fight for the bill's proponent Russell Pearce. Pearce then angrily referred to Hancock's activities as just short of 'domestic terrorism'. Hancock's lawyer then demanded a retraction and a censure of the senator.

In Wednesday's interview, Ron Paul explained that he understands the motive for the law and that people are simply frustrated with the Federal government’s lack of enforcement of existing immigration laws. Jones did not ask Paul what his specific concerns were. The comments can be heard at around minute 40 in the first hour of the May 26 broadcast here.

On SB1070, Ron couldn't do any better, and hasn't for his own home state of Texas. I usually agree with Judge Napolitano on most things, but definitely not this one.

Both are dead wrong if they oppose AZ SB1070. It is the most viable attempt yet to regain control over runaway illegal immigration in the country. What are Ron Paul and Judge Naplitano's ideas on eliminating kidnapping in Phoenix, the second-highest kidnapping rate in the entire world?

Ron's son Rand just came out today in support of banning citizenship for anchor babies.

Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, and Barack Obama all concur.

Arizona hasn't gotten the memo yet.

Does the USCON nullify state's rights?

SB1070 is based on federal law.

Yep on several levels not the least of which is that, absent Federal empowerment, States have no power to simply detain people based upon what LE presumes is their citizenship status.

Don't be stupid. Of course they do.

No state has the power to allow ingress and egress into and out of the US. That power resides in the Congress and the Commander in Chief.

Under your scenario, during WWII, AZ could have allowed as many Germans and Japanese to enter as it wanted to.

States can only enforce Federal law if they have been specifically empowered to do so. Currently, there is no such law which does so.

And yes, you claim that a state can regulate ingress and egress into the US. So, that IS your scenario.

Immigration is not an invasion as it exists in a legal state. "Invasion" is a military incursion. There is no way a military incursion can be anything else ab rem.
