Rand Paul's victory over the GOP machine pick Trey Grayson is a stunning victory for grass roots Americans, and a stunning blow to the Republican establishment. Dr. Paul's victory is a political nightmare for the Republican Party, which wants the momentum, money, manpower and votes of the "Tea Party" activists and other angry voters. But the GOP establishment trembles over candidates who are actually principled when it comes to fiscal liberty, allowing only Christian marriage, and outlawing all child killing by abortion.
This is a huge quagmire for the GOP. Old line party hacks like Newt Gingrich, Dick Armey, and Pat Buchanan, and Mitch McConnell are trying to co-opt the Tea Party for their old GOP buddies. They are speaking out against Rand Paul and are facing an angry mob as a consequence. So their influence in the Tea Party movement is dwindling.
If the national Republican Party continues to "distance itself" from Paul, they will further enrage a base that is quickly becoming unruly and uncontrollable by party leaders. This will cause the base to withhold funds and man hours from the party apparatus. It will cause these grass roots Americans to abandon the GOP and form their own party.
If the GOP embraces Dr. Rand Paul, his economic policies and true commitment to life and liberty show that the GOP is made of big government socialists, child-killers (who use "pro-life" words to seduce pro-life voters), slaves to corporate interests and foreign regimes, closet homosexuals (Larry Craig and Mary Cheney), etc.
The GOP would be delighted to have Scott Brown of Massachusetts as their prototype for political superhero. Scott Brown posed nude for Cosmopolitan Magazine. He is a man without an ethical compass, who will happily put Party ahead of principle when told to by party bosses.
Rand Paul, by contrast, is the real article. He is a man driven and guided by principle, not party loyalty. If Rand Paul becomes the poster boy of the GOP rabble, those who rule the ivory tower will look as foolish as the naked emperor. They will be seen as the phonies that they are.
Finally, Paul is in the perfect state for victory. President Obama is unpopular with all of the ignorant racists who have come out of the closet since his decisive election, and who have joined in the oposition to tax cuts, health care for the poor, immigration reform, improvements to education, and a strong military. Accordingly, conservative political activists are energized and willing to sacrifice time and money to fight the President on these issues. But Democrats are fighting back hard with their message of hope and reform. Democrats are working to "take back our government" that the establishment Republican Party stole from us during the Bush-Cheney Administration.
Leave it to the Democrats to help elect America's first black President of the United States. And leave it to the establishment Republican Party to "want him to fail" while our nation is at war and while we are suffering the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression (both of which were caused by the GOP party establishment while George W. Bush was Dick Cheney's puppet).
Rand Paul hopes to inherit the Ronald Reagan populist mantle. Although Ronald Reagan was the first and only American president who was divorced, and even though he suffered from Alzheimer's disease which affected his judgment, we should remember that Reagan was also disliked by the GOP establishment.
