United States News Title: 2 of Teabagger Republican Candidate Joe Walsh's Aides, Some Volunteers Quit 2 of Republican Candidate Joe Walsh's Aides, Some Volunteers Quit Chicago - There is a lot of unwanted campaign turmoil for the Republican candidate in the race for Illinois' 8th Congressional seat. Sunday two of his top aides and about half a dozen campaign volunteers quit. Now they are calling on Joe Walsh to step down. "We've pretty much had enough of Joe's campaign. We've had enough of the lies, deception and his contant rhetoric and we're done," said Richard Cape, a former field director. Police were called to Walsh's Graylake campaign office Sunday afternoon after Cape and others went there to retrieve office equipment and other property they claim is theirs. They were not allowed in the campaign office, and officers told them it was a civil matter and they would have to go to court to settle their dispute. Richard Cape and others claim Walsh has not been truthful with them or with voters who supported him enough to win the the Republican nomination for the 8th Congressional District. Ted Livengood, another field director who quit on Sunday says he's had enough too. "I found out he's been lying to me since day one. And one thing I have is my reputation and I'm here to apologize to my friends in the political circles that I've taken him to and apologize to the voters." The problems stem from a recent report on Fox Chicago News that exposed Walsh's failure to file campaign financial reports, as required by law, before the primary. He has since taken care of those filings . Earlier reports show Walsh lost an Evanston condo to foreclosure. Walsh has previously stated that he never meant to decieve people about his finances. Walsh campaign manager Nick Provenzano told the Daily Herald that Cape and Livengood are "disgruntled." "(They) didn't like the new sheriff in town," Provenzano told the Daily Herald. "And we're moving forward with the campaign." But the Republican leadership in Lake County was concerned enough to meet for two hours Sunday behind closed doors to discuss Walsh's future. They declined to ask him to step down. "Joe Walsh is still our candidate, we're not gonna get involved in a campaign dispute," said Lake County Republican Party Chairman Bob Cook. But when pressed on Walsh's future, and how recent issues might affect the general election in November Cook said "We're always concerned when there's something that could hurt our chances of beating Melissa Bean in the General election." He said it's up to the voters to decide if those chances will be hurt if Walsh stays in the race. Walsh did not return a phone call seeking comment, but a campaign volunteer at his office said he should not step down. "People voted for him and he should be the representative and he should be the one to run," said John Karas. Walsh's communication director Whitney Schlosser says Walsh intends to stay in the race.
Poster Comment: Why do I call him a teabagger? This is why. from the Walsh for Congress campaign Three and a half months ago when Illinois 8th District Republican Nominee Joe Walsh began his run for the nomination, he called himself a "tea party conservative first and a Republican second."
