Bible Study Title: 60;THE REAL ANTICHRIST61; (Or, Just Who is This Antichrist Guy?) FIRST WARNING: Bible prophecy is a 60;delicate61; topic. There are times when Bible prophecy is 60;layered61; 51; having both a NEAR and a FAR 60;time61; application, or is applicable to more than one individual, location, or nation/kingdom (i.e., a 60;dual application61;). (For example, one particular individual may serve as a 60;type61; for another individual following centuries later!) However, knowing this to be so should not stop us from studying prophecy in the Holy Bible. Our primary source for understanding Bible prophecy, including the prophecies concerning the Antichrist found in the books of Daniel and Revelation [Apocalypse], must be the Holy Bible itself! Studying the entire Bible through each year is so very important, because Holy Scripture interprets Holy Scripture! For example, the 60;meaning61; of a prophetic symbol or sign in one particular verse may be interpreted for the reader several verses later 51; or, possibly, as sometimes occurs, in a totally different book of the Holy Bible! A good knowledge of both world history and church history is essential to recognizing the fulfillment of certain key Bible prophecies. Additionally, we must be careful not to 60;spiritualize61; everything in Bible prophecy, nor to 60;take literally61; everything in Bible prophecy. Rather, wherever possible, we must let Holy Scripture interpret Holy Scripture, and closely examine the 60;context61; of the verse or passage. SECOND WARNING: This issue of the ETI newsletter may seriously 60;disturb61; some folks57; 60;comfort zones61;. However, TRUTH is more important than any of our 60;comfort zones61;. While there may remain some levels of disagreement on Bible prophecy that is yet to be fulfilled, there can be no doubt concerning much of Bible prophecy that has already been fulfilled. A lot of fulfilled Bible prophecy can be clearly read on the pages of 60;secular61; history. IMPORTANT NOTE: Editor of ETI is not a Roman Catholic; he also is most definitely not anti-Roman Catholic as far as individual Roman Catholics go. His dad and 90% of his relatives are Roman Catholic; his best friend is Roman Catholic; and the majority of his friends are Roman Catholic. Editor of ETI is, however, against the top levels of secret societies (from the hierarchy of the Jesuit Order to the hierarchy of Freemasonry). This is because these secret societies control the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church (through the Jesuit Order and P-2 Masonry). These secret societies also control the leadership of most of the larger, non-Catholic, Christian denominations. DEFINITIONS: 1. 60;Anti-61; (per Webster57;s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): 60;A preposition signifying 56;against57;, 56;opposite57;, 56;contrary57;, or 56;in place of57;; used in many English words.61; ((Ed. Comment: As you read this newsletter, please keep in mind this meaning 60;in the place of61; for the prefix 60;anti-61; as concerns the anti-Christ 51; one who sits 60;in the place of61; Christ.)) 2. 60;Antichrist61; (per Webster57;s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): 60;A great adversary of Christ; the man of sin; described [in] I John 2:18; II Thessalonians [Chapter] 2; [and] Revelation [Chapter] 9. Protestants generally suppose this adversary to be the Papal power; and some divines [i.e., clergymen] believe that, in a more general sense, the word extends to any persons who deny Christ or oppose the fundamental doctrines of Christianity.61; 3. 60;Antichrist61; means 56;opposed to57; or 56;in the place of57; Christ. An antichrist individual claims to be leading people toward the Lord Jesus Christ but is actually leading them away from Him. 4. 60;Papacy61; (per Webster57;s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): 60;[a.] The office and dignity of the pope or bishop of Rome; popedom. [b.] Papal authority.61; 5. 60;Nicolaitan61; (per Webster57;s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): 60;One of a sect in the ancient Christian church, so named from Nicolas, a deacon of the church of Jerusalem. They held that all married women should be common to prevent jealousy. They are not charged with erroneous opinions respecting God, but with licentious [i.e., wanton; unrestrained by law or morality] practices.61; 6. 60;Nicolaitans61; (per Halley57;s Bible Handbook): 60;The 56;Nicolaitans57;, it is thought, were a sect who advanced licentiousness as the proper way of life.61; (Page 702) ((Questions and comments by Editor of ETI concerning the term 60;Nicolaitans61;: (1) Might the Lord Jesus Christ be trying to tell us Christians something through the use of this term 60;Nicolaitans61;? When we break down the 60;Greek61; components of the word, we find the term 60;nikao61; which means to 60;conquer, overcome, prevail61;, and the term 60;laos61; which means 60;people61;. We derive the word 60;laity61; from the Greek word 60;laos61;. (2) Could the term 60;Nicolaitans61; signify a group of men within an ecclesiastical system (i.e., a religious denomination) that uses a hierarchical mechanism to 60;rule vigorously and forcibly61; over the lay people within that religious system? NOTE: I will be using the term 60;Revelation61; to describe the last book of the Bible throughout the remainder of this newsletter. Catholics use the term 60;Apocalypse61; for the same book. HERE ARE SOME RELEVANT BIBLE VERSES: [The Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians at Corinth]: 60;Know ye not that YE are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?61; (I Corinthians 3:16) ((Comments by Editor of ETI concerning the preceding Bible verse: (1) Please also see I Corinthians 6:19 and II Corinthians 6:16 concerning the terms 60;temple of the Holy Ghost [of God]61;, 60;temple of God61;, and 60;temple of the living God61;. (2) We Christians need to keep this definition of just WHO the 60;temple of God61; is when we consider 60;that man of sin70;the son of perdition61; who is found sitting in 60;the temple of God61;, 60;showing himself [i.e., proclaiming himself] that he is God61; in II Thessalonians 2:3, 4.)) [The Apostle Paul wrote to Christians at Thessalonica]: 60;Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day [i.e., the 56;day of Christ57;s coming57; 51; see verses 1 and 2] shall not come, except there come a falling away [Greek: apostasia] first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; (Verse 4): Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth [i.e., sits] in the temple of God, shewing [i.e., showing] himself that he is God.61; (II Thessalonians 2:3, 4) ((Comments and questions by Editor of ETI concerning the preceding Bible passage: (1) Most Bible scholars agree that 60;the son of perdition61; and 60;that man of sin61; described here in II Thessalonians 2:3 refer to 60;the Antichrist61;. (2) The Apostle Paul57;s use of the terms 60;the temple [Greek: naos] of God61; in II Thessalonians 2:4 refers to the 60;body of Christian believers61; rather than a physical building 51; such as the so-called 60;rebuilt Jewish temple61; in the end time. (Please see especially I Corinthians 3:16, 17; see also I Corinthians 6:19 and II Corinthians 6:16.) (3) The term 60;sitteth61; [i.e., sits] does not mean merely to sit oneself down onto a chair. Webster57;s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language states the following for the third meaning of the term 60;sit61;: 60;To occupy a seat or place in an official capacity.61; Webster57;s 1828 Dictionary then gives this following example for the above definition: 60;The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses57; seat. Matthew [Chapter] 23.61; Do we know anybody today who sits in Christ57;s seat claiming to be Christ57;s vicar on earth?)) 60;And he [i.e., the Lord Jesus Christ] said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in My NAME, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.61; (Luke 21:8) ((Comments and questions by Editor of ETI concerning the preceding Bible verse: (1) Please also see Matthew 24:5 and Mark 13:6. (2) 60;In My [i.e., Jesus57;] NAME61;: Interestingly, the Jesuit Order is called the 60;Society of Jesus61;. (3) Why do some of the people 60;interpreting61; this verse of Scripture assume that these many folks 60;saying I am Christ61; are really claiming that they personally are 60;Jesus Christ61;? Might the intended meaning of the above verse be: those folks coming in Christ57;s name, 60;saying, I [Jesus] am Christ61;? Since Jesus Christ is addressing Christians, how could 60;nut cases claiming to be Jesus Christ61; be capable of deceiving Christians into following them? Might not a more reasonable explanation for this capacity of deceiving Christians be the explanation that these many folks are saying that Jesus indeed is Christ while in reality they are deceivers (and 60;wolves in sheep57;s clothing61;) 60;in the very midst of the Church itself61;? In other words, these deceivers are merely 60;pretend (i.e., phony) Christians61;!)) 60;For I [i.e., the Apostle Paul] know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. (Verse 30): Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.61; (Acts 20:29, 30) 60;For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. (Verse 14): And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (Verse 15): Therefore it is no great thing if his [i.e., Satan57;s] ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness70;61; (II Corinthians 11: 13-15a.) ((Comments by Editor of ETI concerning the preceding two Bible passages: (1) The 60;wolves61; began infiltrating the Christian Church at its highest levels shortly after the Apostle Paul57;s death 51; as he had predicted through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God. (2) Notice in II Corinthians 11:13 that these 60;false apostles61; are able to pass themselves off as 60;apostles of Christ61; 51; no doubt deceiving many sincere Christians. Interestingly, Webster57;s 1828 Dictionary tells us that Jesuit missionaries are called 60;apostles61;.)) 60;For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.61; (II Timothy 4:3) 60;But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily [i.e., secretly; clandestinely; stealthily] shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (Verse 2): And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. (Verse 3): And through covetousness shall they with feigned [i.e., fictitious, fabricated] words make merchandise of you...61; (II Peter 2:1-3a.) ((Comments by Editor of ETI concerning the preceding Bible passage: (1) In other words, the Apostle Peter is telling us that these false prophets and teachers will be slick con artists who will pretend to be Christians in order to gain the confidence of Christians 51; to either lead them astray doctrinally or to reap 56;monetary profits57; from them 51; or both! (2) 60;Denying the Lord61;: This denial does not have to be only in words; this denial can take the form of 60;actions taken contrary to God57;s Word61; or 60;failure to obey God57;s Commandments61;.)) 60;And that because of false brethren unawares [i.e., stealthily; secretly] brought in, who came in privily [i.e., clandestinely; stealthily; secretly] to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage.61; (Galatians 2:4) 60;But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.61; (Revelation 2:6) ((Comment by Editor of ETI concerning the preceding Bible verse: The Lord Jesus Christ is speaking to the angel (or, messenger) of the church of Ephesus.)) 60;So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.61; (Revelation 2:15) ((Comment by Editor of ETI concerning the preceding Bible verse: The Lord Jesus Christ is speaking to the angel (or, messenger) of the church in Pergamos.)) ((NOTE: It certainly wouldn57;t hurt to repeat here my earlier comments and questions concerning this term 60;Nicolaitans61;: (1) Might the Lord Jesus Christ be trying to tell us Christians something through the use of this term 60;Nicolaitans61;? When we break down the 60;Greek61; components of the word, we find the term 60;nikao61; which means to 60;conquer, overcome, prevail61;, and the term 60;laos61; which means 60;people61;. We derive the word 60;laity61; from the Greek word 60;laos61;. (2) Could the term 60;Nicolaitans61; signify a group of men within an ecclesiastical system (i.e., a religious denomination) that uses a hierarchical mechanism to 60;rule vigorously and forcibly61; over the lay people within that religious system? (3) Or, as author James Lloyd puts it: 60;This elevation of the clergy to the status of 56;interpreter57; [of the Holy Bible] for all us 56;foolish57; laymen is referred to as 56;the doctrine of the Nicolaitans57; in the book of Revelation.61;)) HERE ARE SOME RELEVANT QUOTATIONS: 60;At the Council of Trent [Ed. Note: 1545-1563], papal leaders and Jesuits brainstormed about how to counteract Protestantism and bring defectors back to the mother church. Behind closed doors, they decided this was to be done, not only through the Inquisition and torture, but also through THEOLOGY. What kind of theology? Here57;s the answer: By reinterpreting the prophecies about 56;the man of sin57;, 56;the little horn57;, and 56;the beast57;! Two very intelligent Spanish Jesuits rose to the challenge: Luis de Alcasar (1554-1613) of Seville and Francisco Ribera (1537-1591) of Salamanca. Their strategy was, in a nutshell, one of reapplication and diversion, yet they went in opposite directions. After reading the Bible by candlelight like Martin Luther did, [Jesuit Luis de] Alcasar decided to apply the Bible57;s antichrist prophecies to the ancient past while [Jesuit Francisco] Ribera applied them to the distant future. 56;Smart move!57; was the response from Rome. By reapplying these prophecies to the past and to the future instead of to the present, these two tricky Jesuit scholars sought to divert the prophetic finger light years away from the VATICAN. Their views quickly became official positions within the Roman [Catholic] Church 51; even though these two views contradicted each other!61; George Eldon Ladd (Author of the book The Blessed Hope: A Biblical Study of the Second Advent and the Rapture) 60;Accordingly, towards the close of the century of the Reformation, two of her [Rome57;s] most learned [Jesuit] doctors set themselves to the task, each endeavoring by different means to accomplish the same end, namely, that of diverting men57;s minds from perceiving the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Antichrist in the Papal system. The Jesuit [Luis de] Alcasar devoted himself to bring into prominence the Preterist method of interpretation to show the prophecies of Antichrist were fulfilled before the Popes ever ruled at Rome, and therefore could not apply to the Papacy. On the other hand the Jesuit [Francisco] Ribera tried to set aside the application of the prophecies to Papal Power by bringing out the Futurist system, which asserts that these prophecies refer properly not to the career of the Papacy, but to that of some future supernatural individual, who is yet to appear, and to continue in power for three and a half years.61; Joseph Tanner (Clergyman; Author of Daniel and Revelation) Martin Luther in Germany, John Wycliffe in England, John Calvin in France, John Knox in Scotland, Ulrich Zwingli in Switzerland, and others preached that the that the Roman Catholic papacy was the Antichrist as prophesied in the Holy Bible. As a result of this preaching, large numbers of people in Europe and England left the Roman Catholic Church. ((Ed. Comment: This desertion of 60;hundreds of thousands61; of the 60;faithful61; from the Roman Catholic Church threatened the Vatican57;s financial base 51; and possibly even its very existence, and thus could not be tolerated. The Vatican57;s response was to launch 60;Holy Crusades61; against innocent farmers and peasants (on their farms and in their villages) in barbarous religious genocide against entire regions and provinces in Europe! Professional armies were sent under 60;Papal blessing61; to exterminate innocent men, women, and children! Additionally, the Vatican created its 60;Holy Office of Inquisition61; to torture and to brutalize 60;liberal61; Catholics and so-called Protestant 60;heretics61; (falsely accused by the Vatican) 51; and then to turn them over to the civil authorities for execution! Of course, the Inquisition was also used to terrorize many of the 60;Catholic faithful61; into not leaving the Mother Church! What kind of institution (organization) 51; especially one that calls itself 60;Christian61; 51; has to rely on torture, terror, and murder to keep many of its adherents 60;in line61;?)) 60;70;In the eleventh century, the Man of Sin appeared to have attained the summit of arrogance and blasphemy in the person of [Pope] Gregory VII. 70;He [i.e., Pope Gregory VII] assumed not only the appellation of 56;Universal Bishop57;, but also those of 56;Sovereign Pontiff57;, 56;Christ57;s Vicar57;, 56;Prince of the Apostles57;, 56;God on earth57;, 56;Lord God the Pope57;, 56;His Holiness57;, 56;King of kings and Lord of lords57;, 56;Prince over all nations and kingdoms57;, 56;The Most Holy and Most Blessed57;, 56;Master of the Universal World57;, 56;Father of Kings57;, 56;Light of the World57;, 56;Most High and Sovereign Bishop57;, etc., etc.61; 51; David Benedict (Author of General History of the Baptist Denomination) ((Ed. Comment concerning the preceding quotation: Students of the Holy Bible know that there is only ONE 60;King of kings and Lord of lords61; 51; and He is the Lord Jesus Christ, not any other person on earth, including the pope! (Please see I Timothy 6:14-16.)) 60;Some persons think us too severe and censorious when we call the Roman pontiff Antichrist. 70;I shall briefly show that ([the Apostle] Paul57;s words in II Thessalonians [Chapter] 2) are not capable of any other interpretation than that which applies them to the Papacy.61; John Calvin (1509-1564; French Protestant reformer) 60;Wherefore it followeth Rome to be the seat of antichrist, and the pope to be very antichrist himself. I could prove the same by many other Scriptures, old writers, and strong reasons.61; 51; Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556; English churchman; archbishop of Canterbury) 60;[Martin] Luther70;proved, by the revelations of [the prophet] Daniel and St. John, by the epistles of St. Paul, St. Peter, and St. Jude, that the reign of Antichrist, predicted and described in the Bible, was the Papacy.61; 51; J.H. Merle D57;Aubigne (Author of History of the Reformation of the Sixteenth Century) 60;[John] Wycliffe, [William] Tyndale, [Martin] Luther, [John] Calvin, [Thomas] Cranmer; in the seventeenth century, [John] Bunyan, the translators of the King James Bible and the men who published the Westminster and Baptist confessions of Faith; Sir Isaac Newton, [John] Wesley, Whitfield, Jonathan Edwards; and more recently [Charles] Spurgeon, Bishop J.C. Ryle and Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones; these men, among countless others, all saw the office of the Papacy as the antichrist.61; 51; Michael de Semlyen (Author of All Roads Lead to Rome) 60;Disregarding the maxims and the spirit of the Gospel, the papal Church, arming herself with the power of the sword, vexed the Church of God and wasted it for centuries, a period most appropriately termed in history, the 56;dark ages57;. The kings of the earth gave their power to the Beast.61; 51; John Foxe (or, Fox) (1516-1587; Author of Foxe57;s Book of Martyrs) 60;[The Pope is] the very antichrist, and 56;son of perdition57;, of whom [the Apostle] Paul speaks.61; 51; John Knox (1505-1572; Scottish Protestant clergyman and religious reformer) 60;We here are of the conviction that the papacy is the seat of the true and real Antichrist.61; Martin Luther (1483-1546; German theologian and religious reformer) 60;It is a horrible thing to behold the man who styles himself Christ57;s vicegerent, displaying a magnificence that no emperor can equal. Is this being like the poor Jesus or the humble Peter? He [i.e., the Pope] is, say they, the lord of the world! But Christ, whose vicar he boasts of being, said, 56;My kingdom is not of this world.57; Can the dominions of a vicar extend beyond those of his superior?61; 51; Martin Luther ((Ed. Comment: The gold, silver, precious stones, and other monetary and property wealth (to include banking interests) of the Roman Catholic Church57;s hierarchy are so immense that they probably cannot be properly estimated by anyone who does not have direct access to their financial books.)) According to Cotton Mather (1663-1728) American clergyman and writer: 60;The oracles of God foretold the rising of an Antichrist in the Christian Church: and in the Pope of Rome all the characteristics of that Antichrist are so marvelously answered that if any who read the Scriptures do not see it, there is a marvelous blindness upon them.61; John Wesley (1703-1791) English clergyman and evangelist wrote: 60;He [i.e., the Pope] is in an emphatic sense, 56;the Man of Sin57;, as he increases all manner of sin above measure. And he [i.e., the Pope] is, too, properly styled 56;the Son of Perdition57;, as he has caused the death of numberless multitudes, both of his opposers and followers. 70;He it is70;that 56;exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped57; [II Thessalonians 2:4]70;claiming the highest power and highest honor70;claiming the prerogatives which belong to God alone.61; 51; The Westminster Confession of Faith (1647) states: 60;There is no other head of the church but [i.e., except] the Lord Jesus Christ. Nor can the pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof; but is that Antichrist, that 56;man of sin57; and 56;son of perdition57; that exalteth himself in the church against Christ and all that is called God.61; Roger Williams (1603-1683; English clergyman and colonist in America; founder of Rhode Island 51; considered the first Baptist pastor in America) said, 60;[The Pope is] the pretended Vicar of Christ on earth, who sits as God over the Temple of God [Ed. Note: i.e., the body of believers in Christ], exalting himself not only above all that is called God, but over the souls and consciences of all his vassals, yea over the Spirit of Christ, over the Holy Spirit, yea, and God Himself70;speaking against the God of heaven, thinking to change times and laws; but he is the 56;son of perdition57; (II Thessalonians 2).61; 60;70;Imperial kings and pharaohs were priest-56;god57;-kings that held the official office and title of Pontifex Maximus, that compels worship from their subjects.61; John Daniel (Author; from his article 60;Vatican Design Exposed61;) 60;While heading the Christian church, [Roman Emperor] Constantine continued to head the pagan priesthood, to officiate at pagan festivities, and to endow pagan temples even after he began to build Christian churches. As 56;head of the pagan priesthood57; he was the 56;Pontifex Maximus57; and needed a similar title as head of the Christian church. The Christians honored him as 56;Bishop of Bishops57;, while Constantine called himself 56;Vicarius Christi57;, (Vicar of Christ). 70;In the Middle Ages, the bishops of Rome began to claim that they were the 56;sole representatives of Christ upon earth57;. Demanding that the entire church worldwide must be subject to their rule, they forbade any other bishops to be called 56;papa57; or pope and took to themselves the three titles of [Roman Emperor] Constantine 51; 56;Pontifex Maximus57;, 56;Vicar of Christ57;, and 56;Bishop of Bishops57; 51; which they retain to this day.61; Dave Hunt (Author; from his book A Woman Rides the Beast) 60;The popes filled the place of the vacant emperors at Rome, inheriting their power, prestige, and titles [Ed. Note: such as Pontifex Maximus] from paganism. [Roman Emperor] Constantine [Ed. Note: according to the admittedly FORGED 60;Donation of Constantine61;] left all to the Bishop of Rome [i.e., the Pope]. 70;The Papacy is but the GHOST of the deceased [Pagan] Roman Empire sitting crowned upon its grave.61; STANLEY57;S HISTORY (page 40) 60;The popes57; authority even extended to large territories outside Rome acquired in the eighth century. At that time, with the help of a deliberately fraudulent document manufactured for the popes known as 56;The Donation of Constantine57;, Pope Stephen III convinced Pepin, king of the Franks and father of Charlemagne, that territories recently taken by the Lombards from the Byzantines actually had been given to the papacy by the [Roman] Emperor Constantine. In 1440 this document was proven to be a forgery by Lorenzo Valla, a papal aide, and is so recognized by historians today. Yet allegedly infallible popes continued for centuries to assert that 56;The Donation [of Constantine]57; was genuine and on that basis to justify their pomp, power, and possessions. 70;Thus the Papal States were literally stolen by the popes from their rightful owners.61; Dave Hunt (Author; from his book A Woman Rides the Beast) 60;Popes during the Middle Ages were not in any sense men who had inclinations to set examples for morality. These books often name one particular individual 51; one who has 60;not yet assumed61; his 60;End Time61; position of ultimate power. One such book named Prince Charles. Another book named Ronald Reagan (who survived an assassination attempt). Yet another book named former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev (mentioning that mysterious red mark on his head). In fact, there have been numerous candidates named in various books for this 60;job61; of 60;the [End-Time] Antichrist61;. Most prophecy books on the market today agree that 60;the Antichrist61; will arise after the 60;Church61; has been 60;raptured61; off of planet Earth via a massive 60;air evacuation61; PRIOR to the initiation of a horrible 60;seven year period of great tribulation61;. This 60;eschatological position61; is by far the most popular today, and a zillion books, videos, DVDs, etc., have been produced promoting it! In fact, sales of these popular books, videos, DVDs, etc., show that the 60;prophecy business61; is quite lucrative! But is the popular, 60;majority61; view of Bible prophecy today the correct one? Throughout history, has the majority at a certain point in time always been right? ((At one time, most of the people of the world, to include the Pope of Rome, believed that the Earth was FLAT!)) Please thoughtfully consider the many quotations given in this issue of ETI. Please also carefully consider the numerous Bible passages quoted in this newsletter. I believe strongly that we have been 60;fed61; a whole lot of misinformation and disinformation in the arena of Bible prophecy through these popular books, videotapes, and movies concerning the 60;Last Days61;. Much of this misinformation and disinformation has been based on lies and fables introduced into the Christian Church by 60;wolves in sheep57;s clothing61; centuries ago! Indeed, the Holy Bible has warned us that 60;deception61; would be rampant in the 60;End Times61;! A final thought for this introductory section: Many people these days seem to have adopted a mindset of 60;holding back61; on truth so as not to 60;offend61; anyone. We do nobody a service by adopting such a mindset. It is true that we should present the truth without undue acrimony [i.e., sharpness; bitterness of expression]; however, GOD through His Holy Word commands that we speak the truth and that we expose evil. (Please see Ephesians 5:11.) Please consider this excellent quotation by Dave Hunt (taken from his outstanding book A Woman Rides the Beast): 60;We are told to love one another as Christ has loved us. Pop psychology trivializes that command by equating it with a 56;positive57; attitude. Forgotten is the first duty of love: to speak the truth (Ephesians 4:15). Real love does not flatter or soothe when correction is needed but [rather] points out the error which is blinding and harming the loved one. Christ said, 56;As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous, therefore, and repent57; (Revelation 3:19). Instead, the idea is now current that love excludes rebuke, ignores the truth, and seeks unity at any price. Only disaster can result.61; II. IT IS GOOD VERSUS EVIL (NOT CATHOLIC VERSUS PROTESTANT)! Many of the earliest 60;reformers61; were Roman Catholics (such as Martin Luther) who tried, at least initially, to work for change within the Roman Catholic Church. They also initially had no intention of leaving the Roman Catholic Church, but rather wanted to purge out the false doctrine that had slowly crept into the Church over the centuries! The 60;wolves61; that the Apostles warned us about have frequently, in the last several centuries, come in the form of members of 60;secret societies61; (Jesuits and high-level Freemasons) who have infiltrated and taken over the Roman Catholic Church and most of the largest non-Catholic, Christian denominations. Additionally, members of these 60;secret societies61; have also infiltrated many non-Catholic, Christian seminaries. Sadly, these 60;wolves61; have sown a whole lot of false doctrine. Much of this false doctrine can be found in the 60;prophetic arena61;. ((NOTE: Roman Catholics themselves have often been the victims of the Jesuits. A number of popes, such as Pope Clement XIII and Pope Clement XIV, were assassinated by the Jesuits. A number of Roman Catholic monarchs, such as King Edward III and King Edward IV of France, were assassinated by the Jesuits. In fact, the Jesuits for centuries have been purging so-called 60;liberal61; Catholics (who love God57;s Word) from any positions of power within the Roman Catholic Church57;s hierarchy. Professor Walter J. Veith tells us: 60;At the Council of Trent many a Roman Catholic stood up and said, 56;The Word and the Word alone!57;61; Dr. Veith adds, 60;So there were many [Catholics] that weren57;t 56;in line57; [at the time of the Council of Trent], so the [Roman Catholic] Church itself needed a purging.61; Indeed, the purging process has been going on for several centuries!)) III. DANIEL CHAPTER 7 (Verse 7): 60;After this I [i.e., the prophet Daniel] saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast [i.e., a fourth king or kingdom 51; see verses 17 and 23], dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake [i.e., broke] in pieces, and stamped [i.e., stomped] the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse [i.e., different] from all the beasts [i.e., kings or kingdoms] that were before it; and it had ten horns. Most Protestant Bible scholars for over 300 years recognized that 60;the little horn61; was the Papacy. Indeed, the Papacy reigned for 1260 literal years from its official recognition in 538 A.D. until 1798 when French General Berthier entered Rome, imprisoned the pope, and abolished the Papacy. (4) (Verse 20): A study of papal pronouncements (such as the pope claiming to be the King of kings and Lord of lords) should convince any reasonable person that many popes have had 60;a mouth that spake very great things61;, [and a] 60;look more stout than his fellows61;. (5) (Verse 25): 60;[Thinking] to change times and laws61;: The Papacy ignored and forsook the Holy Commandment of the LORD God Almighty to honor and keep holy the seventh day, the Sabbath (see the Fourth Commandment 51; Deuteronomy 5:12-15), and substituted in its place SUN-day 51; the first day of the week. Additionally, some of the earlier Catholic Catechisms totally removed the Second Commandment, and then divided the Tenth Commandment into two parts so they would still have 10 commandments 51; minus the controversial Second Commandment. By the way, the Second Commandment reads: 60;Thou shalt not make thee any graven [i.e., carved; chiseled] image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them [i.e., the graven images], nor serve them70;61; (Deuteronomy 5:8, 9 a.) John Daniel and some other writers on Bible prophecy believe that the Pope (the Pontifex Maximus) will, in his final 60;act61; as Supreme Pontiff of the World, establish his headquarters in Jerusalem and 60;rule vigorously and forcibly61; for a literal 1260 days (3 ½ months) of renewed 60;holy Inquisition61;. As Supreme Pontiff in Jerusalem, Pontifex Maximus will be fulfilling the final role on earth of this ROMISH ANTICHRIST that has been in operation for over a thousand plus years (including an unbroken streak of 1260 literal years where 60;holy wars, holy crusades, and holy Inquisition61; were more often the 60;rule61; rather than the 60;exception61;)! (c.) 60;Blaspheming God61;: Webster57;s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language gives as one definition of the word 60;blaspheme61; the following: 60;To arrogate the prerogatives of God61;. Webster57;s 1828 Dictionary defines 60;arrogate61; as follows: 60;To assume70;more than is proper; to make undue claims from vanity or false pretensions to right or merit.61; Two Biblical examples of 60;blaspheming61; are found in the New Testament: In Mark Chapter 2 the religious leaders accused the Lord Jesus Christ of blasphemy because He forgave a man his sins. The scribes replied, 60;Why doth this man [referring to Jesus Christ] thus speak blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God only [i.e., alone]?61; In John Chapter 10 we find the Jews getting ready to stone Jesus Christ because they believed that He 60;being a man61; was making Himself out [to be] 60;God61;.
