To: jveritas Listen Marli, you start sounding like a DUmmy troll here, just be careful.

And you sound like someone who wants to deny that something very serious happened here.

And lay off the "DU troll" nonsense. Somebody(s) lost control and may have killed 24 innocent civilians for no reason.

This incident is only now being investigated because it was hidden from the higher ups at the Pentagon for over three months.

If what is alleged happened, this is Abu Ghraib times ten. 27 posted on 05/29/2006 6:33:55 PM PDT by sinkspur ( Don Cheech. Vito Corleone would like to meet you......Vito Corleone.....) [ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 19 | View Replies | Report Abuse ]

You're not paying attention to all the clues being dropped by Pace and others in high command.

Since anyone who raises questions about this incident gets banned or is driven off the thread by those who simply refuse to consider that something terrible happened here, I'll oblige you and leave.

And I'm not proud of men who shoot other people in cold blood. This was calculated. If there were insurgents present, is it not curious that not a single Marine lost his life or was wounded other than the Marine killed by the IED?

Them's screwed up priorities there, bud.

You are wrong on this one, Sink. I understand where you are coming from, but we are still at war, and anything that aids our enemy is less important then the objective, which is to win this war with a minimum of casualties on both sides. The press can only hurt that goal with their sensationalism and bias.

Soldiers are human beings who can make mistakes, but the media will only use this incident for their own biased objectives. No soldier should assist the media, because ultimately it works to embolden the enemy and their defenders on the left.

HANFORD, Calif. -- Marine Lance Cpl. Roel Ryan Briones says he is tormented by two memories of Nov. 19, 2005, in Haditha, Iraq.

The first is of the body of his best friend and fellow Marine blown apart just after dawn by a roadside bomb. The second is the lifeless form of a small Iraqi girl, one of two dozen unarmed civilians allegedly killed by members of his Camp Pendleton-based unit, Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

Briones, 21, a former high school football player interviewed Sunday at his family home in this Central Valley city, said he wasn't among the small group of Marines that military investigators have concluded killed the unarmed civilians, including children and elderly men and women.

However, Briones, who goes by Ryan, said he took photographs of the victims and helped carry their bodies out of their homes as part of the cleanup crew sent in the late afternoon on the day of the killings.

But our nation is not ready for the sick attacks of its own radical left to exploit this.

Everyone of us is going to have to get out there and push back on them.

We all have the power now. Right here in our hands. At our fingertips. USE IT.

Dont let them get away with it.

Free Republic is a great resource. But take that knowledge, facts and power out of here and put it into the blogs, the papers, the radio, the TV, and wherever else sound reasoning stands a chance at being heard.

That's pure, unadulterated nonsense...if some Marines freaked out and killed innocent Iraqis, they will be court-martialed and severely punished. If someone higher on up the chain of command helped cover this up or facilitated the event occurring, they will also be dealt with harshly as well.

But this is NOT U.S. policy and is totally out of character for our Marines...we must let justice take its course...MUD

OOPS

Gas prices have gone up 80-cents per gallon over the last year. For some, it's a minor inconvenience. For others, it's a change in their entire mindset. The high prices at the pumps have consumers coming up with creative ways to save on gas.

"I can ride to work. I can ride home," said Henry Turner, who rides his bicycle to and from work. "I find myself saving at least 30, 30 or 40 dollars a week just on this."

Bob Boekesch saves a buck by eating in. "I cook a lot more than I use to. I don't visit the Burger King over here very much anymore," Boekesch said.

And Dolores Lawrence runs errands while she's out. "(I) do more like on the way to work or on the way home pick up groceries," Lawrence said.

Others have to resort to pawning for gas money. Henry Gruber is the owner of Lee's Pawn and Jewelry in St. Louis. "You hear a lot of umm I need gas money to get to work 'til payday," Gruber said.

He says these days, a lot of his business comes from people desperate to fill their tanks. "Two months ago, I noticed it, but in the last four weeks it's been really prevalent... A lot of our customers are people who get paid twice a month or once a month so it's a bigger stretch for them also."

Gruber says his pawn shop only accepts jewelry and some electronics. On this day, we found Doris Williams exchanging gold for gas money. "My ring, a necklace... That's about it," Williams said.

Williams says it costs about 30 dollars to fill up her gas tank...some days she just doesn't have it. "(It's) very difficult when you're on social security and gas is almost three dollars a gallon."

Gruber says with soaring gas prices... A trip to his pawn shop is a necessity for some - and a sign of the times. "What are you going to do? You can't stop driving. You can't stop going to work. So you have to do whatever you have to do to pay for the price of gas."

However, the increased costs of fuel appear to be casting a pall over the local charter fishing industry.

Steve Johnson, owner of Lake Superior Fishing charter company in Duluth, said he has seen a slowdown in out-of-town customers, which he attributes to gas prices.

"The business is down on the entire dock, and I think that's reflective of how tourism is going to end up this summer," he said.

Laura Ingraham saying her sources in the Pentagon say it's bad. I think some Freepers are putting their heads in the sand, rather than realizing that what makes us GREAT is that when such atrocities occur with our fighting forces, WE identify it, WE prosecute it, WE try it, and WE address it. I don't see the N. Koreans or al-Qaeda interested in trying anyone for atrocities they commit.

Laura Ingraham saying her sources in the Pentagon say it's bad.

It happened 7 months ago so there is a sense that there was some sort of cover up. Also, the 3 commanders including the battalion commander were relieved 5 months after the incident, again an indication of a cover up.

This is worse than bad.

Gas prices take toll on Wal-Mart sales

http://money.cnn.com/2006/05/27/news/companies/walmart_sales.reut/index.htm

CHICAGO, May 27 (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on Saturday estimated that May sales rose 2.3 percent at its U.S. stores open at least a year, the low end of its forecast, held back by steep gasoline and utility prices.

The world's biggest retailer had forecast growth in the range of 2 percent to 4 percent.

"We continue to see higher gasoline and utility prices affecting our customers," Wal-Mart (Research) said on a recorded message, echoing cautious comments made earlier this month by Chief Executive Officer Lee Scott.

On Tuesday, the White House spokesman, Tony Snow, said President Bush first became aware of the episode after the Time magazine inquiry, when he was briefed by Stephen Hadley, the national security adviser. "When this comes out, all the details will be made available to the public, so we'll have a picture of what happened," Mr. Snow said.
