(Reuters) - The former president of Blackwater Worldwide, Gary Jackson, and four other company officials were indicted on Friday for firearms violations and making false statements. Jackson, along with the defense contractor's former general counsel, Andrew Howell, and three others were charged with illegally possessing machine guns, receiving firearms that were not registered, and making false statements, according to the indictment filed in a North Carolina court.
Blackwater, which has changed its name to Xe Services, has faced intense scrutiny for its security work in Iraq. Some of its guards were accused of killing Iraqi civilians in 2007 while protecting U.S. diplomats there.
