Eastern Pa. battery plant to close, idling 125 (AP) An eastern Pennsylvania battery formation plant and distribution center will be closing this summer, idling about 125 workers. Exide Technologies says the Laureldale plant will be closed June 7. The company says it will continue to operate a lead-acid battery recycling plant in Laureldale that employs 145 people. The company is based in Milton, Ga., but had its headquarters in Reading from 199 to 2001.
