150 Laid Off As Greensboro Textile Plant Closes GREENSBORO -- Guilford Performance Textiles plant is closing its Greensboro facility, leaving 150 employees without a job.
The company, citing the economy and the volatile automotive marketplace, made the announcement Thursday morning.
The closure of the plant is expected to happen before the end of the year, the company said.
"This action will strengthen the company's global position in the automotive textile industry and was based on an extensive analysis of Guilford's global footprint," the company said in a news release.
The company said it is also considering closings its Sudbury, England facility, affecting less than 100 employees there.
