A brave cop shot and killed a robbery suspect who waved his loaded handgun in her partner's face Thursday in Brooklyn, police said. The man jammed a silver .357 Rossi revolver through the window of the officers' unmarked police car in Sunset Park at 2:15 p.m., police said. As the cop behind the wheel desperately grappled with the gunman, his partner hopped out of her passenger seat, raced around the car and fired one shot, police said. The bullet hit the 32-year-old suspect in the left shoulder and then pierced his heart, police said. The suspect, whose backpack contained a second loaded revolver and a gallon-sized plastic bag of marijuana, died a short time later at Lutheran Medical Center. "I heard a pop and I came out and saw this guy laying in the street with his eyes closed," said Marcial Hernandez, 53. "Cops were running around [and] ... he wasn't moving," said Hernandez. "She killed him." The gunfire prompted teachers at a nearby elementary school to hurriedly gather the children into the back of the building, fearing that a stray bullet would zoom through a front window. Neither officer involved in the struggle was injured, nor was a third cop in the car's backseat, police said. Investigators said the unmarked car from the Brooklyn Anti-Crime unit was patrolling a quiet stretch of Fifth Ave. due to a recent rash of strong-arm robberies, police said. As the car reached 33rd St., opposite Greenwood Cemetery, the officers noticed a loitering man who matched a description of a robbery suspect, police said. The cops then pulled over and beckoned the man to the car, according to witnesses. He began yelling at the cops - and then pulled out the handgun from his waistband as he bent over to peer in the driver's side window. The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, has 10 prior arrests - including seven felonies - on his record, according to police sources. The suspect also was carrying two cash-stuffed wallets belonging to other people, police said. "I'd seen that guy buying cigarettes at the gas station and walking around the block," said another resident who declined to give his name. "He was looking shady." "You'd see him around sometimes," the man said. "I guess they knew to look for him here."
