Rockin Week-End Music Thread: 1960's ??

I don't know how anyone else here deals with everyday stress, but I have always turned to MUSIC, and tuned out the world and anyone who might be around me! I'm sort of stuck on the 60's right now, but feel free to post any of your favorite music, I love it all....

I've had a good day, and feelin nostalgic I guess. It's quiet and I can sleep in anyway...I'm basically a night person anyway, I love music and very old classic movies.

I'm nightowl as well, always have been. Cut back on the coffee after noon a few months back and its not 2AM most nights. Tonight got a 'guest' downstairs, rescue dog we arranged a transport to a 'forever home' from here to Chicago. So my five dogs are just a tad worked up, So here I am on this fuckin mini lap top in bad light in front of the fire, watchin 'The Rock' (laughing)

Fred, never picked up on you being in Kentucky. If you haven't tried Four Rose's Bourbon, especially 'Small Batch' I highly recommend it. Toured the disillery in Lexington last year, love the stuff. Of course, they don't sell it in Ohio (eyes rolling).

We have five dogs. Roxie, Dash, Daisy, Jasper the War Pig, and Newton our pup. Thought for 12 years Roxie was a rott/shepard mix, coloring and size more or less indicated petland told us. Did the DNA swab, she's Boxer and some kind of odd husky. Dash is big, short haired blond about 70 pounds. Competes in some, but doesn't particularly like it. Daisy is a budding champion in agility and fly ball competitions, wife has a bunch of ribbons and a few trophy's.

Then there is Rootin Tootin Newton. Pittbull Akita mix. He's 'Mr September' in the 2010 Smiling Pittbull Recue annual calendar. And finally, Jasper the War Pig. A black tubular dog, white chest, six inch leg kind mutt. He's head of security here, and does an excellent job. The others are the 'muscle' when things go bump in the night.

To date, we'ver rescued over 100 dogs since January 1st from this kill county we live in. We've placed dogs all over the eastern half of the United States using everything from volunteers in private cars to big rig's moving these dogs to homes. Have access to pilots if the circumstances warrant it. All volunteers.

Yeah, we do a bit in this area...(chuckle)

Is that right Fred, you didn't know I was only two doors down from ya all this time? LOL

I don't think I've drank Four Rose's, might try it next time I'm in Richmond, the last liquor I bought was Black Velvet...

He's lucky to find a job in todays market, unless he had this all set up beforehand. I don't don't much about Richmond, even tho our daughter attended college there, we just never hung around after she hit us up for money on visits...

The only other times my friends and I go there is for beer and/or liquor..I HATE Jellico, Tenn....

I was never aware of the DNA swab option. My dog is a mutt and I've only guessed at her background; she'll be 15 this summer and is relatively healthy and sound. I know one of these days she won't be around, and that's going to hurt.

Oh yeah, you gotta try the DNA swap,, its an eye opener. We get the results back, and send the swab in via US mail...takes about two weeks.

It lists five catagories of percentage of DNA. The first one is the primary...by the time you are to the fourth its more a educated 'guess'. But we're happy with the results we've gotten. Costs around $40 per.

Roxie turns 15 next January 1st.

I rarely drink the hard stuff; I prefer the liquid bread.

Someone talked me into signing up as a Maker's Mark Ambassador a number of years ago. You can do it online for free and you get on their mailing list. I've gotten free promotional items (not booze) over the years. Also they host various events a few times a year.

The most recent event is Thoroughbreds & Redheads Weekend April 9&10 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington.

Yeah, signed up for Crown's similiar promotional program. I need to make a run to Northern Kentucky for a reload of my favorites soon.

Wild Turkey (I think its WT) has a bourbon based version o Bailey's Cream liquor thats simply the best I've ever tasted. Wife REALLY likes it. So good she does a shot of it on occasion, just sipping it over an hour while reading. Taste is unbelievably good. The only difference is once you open the bottle you MUST refrigerate it til its gone.

That Four Roses Small Batch...I have a lot of friends that don't drink 'the hard stuff' but one sip and they change that status. You should check it out next time your in Lexington. Hit the taster's bar and get a shot for free. You'll be glad you did. Best bourbon I've ever had...and I've check all the Kentucky bourbon's out at one time or another over the years.

My gf loves that stuff too. They've repackaged it and call it American Honey now; I forget its original name, not that it matters.

No, I've got two fifths of American Honey. This stuff is like BAILEY'S IRISH CREAM. Wife likes AH too btw.

I was saying about three or more years ago it was called Wild Turkey Honey or something along those lines. Wild Turkey still makes it and the recipe hasn't changed; but the bottle style and name have. So we're in agreement here.
