Faced with a recession when he took office, President Bush cut taxes for every federal income taxpayer, which helped set off an unprecedented 52 straight months of job creation.
Congress passed an approval for the war. Did Jefferson conduct an un-Constituional war against the Barbary pirates?
"no child left behind",
The Department of Education existed long before Bush took Office
"geezer drug benefit"
There were Medicare benefits long before Bush took Office.
And with the exception of the wars (911 changed the focus on such matters), Bush was exactly what he campaigned to be. So I guess you were campaigning against him in 2000.
It's popular to say "Hoover caused the Great Depression", "FDR ended the Depression", "Carter caused stag-flation", "Reagan's economy", Bush's economy", Clinton's economy" etc.
Of course presidents affect the economy, but I've always believed there were other factors, too. Like everyone else it seems, economists have political biases so you'll never get a broad consensus from them.
If you put 10 economists in a room, they'll likely come out with at least 11 or 12 opinions.
Given all that, I DO believe Zero is different, and his policies will kill what's left of the economy. Raising taxes and creating new entitlements during a recession is suicide.
Assuming the man isn't suicidal, one wonders what else is motivating him?
