Title: 79% Say U.S. Economy Could Collapse (The Obama Depression)

The latest Fox News poll finds that 79 percent of voters think it’s possible the economy could collapse, including large majorities of Democrats (72 percent), Republicans (84 percent) and independents (80 percent).

Most American voters believe it’s possible the nation’s economy could collapse, and majorities don’t think elected officials in Washington have ideas for fixing it.

The latest Fox News poll finds that 79 percent of voters think it’s possible the economy could collapse, including large majorities of Democrats (72 percent), Republicans (84 percent) and independents (80 percent).

Just 18 percent think the economy is "so big and strong it could never collapse."

Moreover, 78 percent of voters believe the federal government is "larger and more costly" than it has ever been before, and by nearly three-to-one more voters think the national debt (65 percent) is a greater potential threat to the country’s future than terrorism (23 percent).

Who has a plan for dealing with the economy?

Overall, 35 percent of voters think the Obama administration has a clear plan for fixing the economy, down from 42 percent last summer (July 21-22, 2009).

At the same time the number saying the White House doesn’t have a plan for the economy has increased from 53 percent in July to 62 percent in the new poll. That includes almost all Republicans (88 percent), two-thirds of independents (67 percent), as well as a third of Democrats (33 percent).

Even fewer people think Democrats in Congress (24 percent) and Republicans in Congress (16 percent) have clear plans to fix the economy.

There is a large gap in party support, as Democrats (46 percent) are significantly more likely than Republicans (25 percent) to think their party has a strategy for the economy.

The national telephone poll was conducted for Fox News by Opinion Dynamics Corp. among 900 registered voters from March 16 to March 17. For the total sample, the poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

"These results reveal a deep anxiety about the fragility of our economy, as voters face continued uncertainty about jobs and an expanding commitment to public sector spending," said Ernest Paicopolos, a principal of Opinion Dynamics.

Three in 10 American voters (30 percent) say they are comfortable with the size and role of the federal government right now, while 65 percent say the government has become too big and "is restricting American freedoms."

Sizable majorities of Republicans (84 percent) and independents (74 percent) think the government is too big, while just over half of Democrats (51 percent) are okay with the size of government.

You have to admire the way the professional criminal class politicians are setting this thing up. We are going to see the Dims blaming the RINO's for it because of Boy Jorge's Budget Busting where he spent money like a drunken 17 year old sailor in a whorehouse, and the RINO's will be blaming Bush 4.0 for the mess for his bailing out the banks, health care for everybody in South and Central America at the taxpayer expense, and his other foolishness.

AND......,they will both be right as far as they go,but neither will ever go all the way and admit their own guy shares the guilt. Every one of the brain-dead partisan sheeple tools from each side will be pointing fingers at the other team and screaming "SHAME!" while bending over and grabbing their ankles for their own team.

The country is being pissed down the drain while the partisan fools play their little partisan games.

And the sad part is they are all too blind and/or stupid to even realize their own fault.

Oh,there is no doubt they will campaign on repealing it.

The problem is they won't be serious. By then there will be too many people making too much money from it for it to be repealed,so they will go after maybe 10% of it and call that a victory.

Name the last government program that was repealed.

The Aetna rep and the legal department must be psychic/psychotic to make a statement like that because NOBODY knows what's in the bill, and it's still being written.

There is also this thing the military calls "mission creep" that is going to show up once the bill is written.

I believe I'm correct in saying that most insurance policies offered through employers are negotiated in advance, and then put in place for a year. I know that is the case at my place of employment.

So, let's say someone is covered under an employer's plan that is in effect from Jan 1, 2010 through Dec. 31 2010. Chances are, the insurance rep WOULD be able to say there would be no changes to the EXISTING health plan.

But watch out for the changes that go into effect on Jan 1, 2011.

There is also this thing the military calls "mission creep" that is going to show up once the bill is written.
I'm sure the reps will factor that in when they write new policies.

But watch out for the changes that go into effect on Jan 1, 2011.

My plan - that I pay for myself - has changed every year since I've had it.

Typically, the change is an increase in co-pays and an increase in premiums.

Maybe people who have the current version of socialized medicine paid for by their employers are going to see a big change, but those of us who pay our own way are used to it.

I don't know about Get Outta Dodge, but I'm smart enough to know that when a existing plan expires,a new plan comes into being that will in this case have to be different than what went before it.

If you think about it, all insurance is, is betting on risk. They are betting that their risks will be small and manageable, and we are betting they will be higher.

The companies that "risk-assess" the best for their clients make money, those that don't lose money and eventually go out of business.

BTW, I've always heard that State Farm underwrote a lot of the property in NYC that was destroyed by the attacks on 9/11 (after all, who saw THAT one coming). Their car insurance rates (among their other rates) had to go up, and all of a sudden made them non-Competitive in NY. They're a big company and they survived, but it was touchy for awhile.

Insurance companies - who usually write health policies for one year increments - must've known with Zero's election that something was coming. They (like the rest of us) just didn't know exactly what. But I'm sure some of the cost increases in policies written AFTER Nov. 2008 reflected that uncertainty.

Now that the mish-mash has passed and we know a LITTLE more about it, future policies will reflect that even more.

But you're right - they cannot change an existing policy. They just have to look at it as a bet they lost. It would be like a car insurance company raising your rates immediately after you get a speeding ticket - even though your policy is months from expiring.

Since an insurance policy is in essence a contract, I don't think that would be legal.

As it happens, my place of employment had a staff meeting just today. One of the topics on the agenda was our health insurance plan.

Our current carrier was going to raise our premiums 22 percent. Rates have gone up every year, but this was too much so we're going to go with a different carrier.

I asked my wife (who works in the medical field) about the different carrier we're going with. She says it's not as good as our current one.

Our rates will be going up 3 percent (from what they were with the old company) I don't know all the other details, but I suspect we will be paying more and getting less.

Also, the employee paid part of the plan will double.

So I guess it's hard times for everyone.

The Kaiser copay on my plan has increased 100% in the last five years, plus it is now for every doctor's visit when followups for the original problem were once free. Heck when I first joined all the visits were free. Also the prescription copay just increased on Jan 1, by 100%.

The Kaiser copay on my plan has increased 100% in the last five years, plus it is now for every doctor's visit when followups for the original problem were once free. Heck when I first joined all the visits were free. Also the prescription copay just increased on Jan 1, by 100%.

Yeah, but look at the emotional benefits you receive from getting the warm and fuzzies from thinking about how your money is providing free medical care for illegal aliens from some 3rd world socialist shithole.

I'm betting you will be more hysterical in 2016.

I have both long term care and supplemental catastrophic policies on me and Mrs. WAR.

If you ***think*** I am looking for someone to take care of me then you've misjudged me. If you think I don't pay attention to what is ACTUALLY going on as opposed to what I'm TOLD is going on then you've mistaken me for you.

Co-pay is the only flexibility that Aetna has in our plan and it's capped @ $20 for visits and $30 for non generic prescriptions and $20 for generic...it's been $10 for both for the last 4 years...

My [parent] company used to self insure us but they sold the unit in 2005 and then negotiated with several companies. We have an amazing array of benefits here in every aspect except one...dental...it absolutely sucks. Capped @ $1000 per year and othdontics, i.e., braces, are capped @ $2300 lifetime.

I have worked for one US based company and three foreign based. Without a doubt, the Guardian PPO that I had when I worked with Scotia was the absolute best.
