Bob,sometimes "stuff happens",and it's not always bad stuff. Sometimes it is good stuff, and it doesn't cost you even one thin dime to be a positive thinker.

As some of you know,I was medievaced from VN in late 1969 for "tropical acne" all over my back, shoulders, and stomach. So thick and bad that I couldn't wear wear web gear or a rucksack. Happened all at once while on a mission in Laos, and my recon team was sleeping in our RON. Started itches all over my upper torso that night and burning to the point where I couldn't even sleep. Good thing the team was scheduled to be pulled out the next day, because it got worse. 3 days later I was flying out of VN,on my way back to Bragg. Really pissed me off because I was 2 months into my 6 month extension, and I hadn't even taken advantage of the free airline ticket to Europe and the free 30 day leave for extending. If I could have held out two more weeks,I would have been walking through Ireland.

Anyhow, been having some physical problems slowly develop over the last couple of years, and the final diagnosis last week was two similar forms of Stage 4 lymphatic cancer. They are so similar they are treated the same way,so no burden there. Biggest problem has been with the swelling from the water retention, and the fact that every 5 days I have to get 2 quarts of fluid drained out of my right lung so I can breathe. Suddenly I was losing all my breath just walking from the house to the truck, and had to lean against the truck for several minutes before I could catch my breath well enough to get in it. Had to finally give in and start riding those little battery powered carts around the supermarket.

The good news is the cancer doc is telling me that this ain't the big deal it used to be,and they are fairly certain they can kill it with the chemo, and if not,"There is a pill we can give you that almost always works." I am thinking that if chemo is the "soft and gentle first approach, that pill has to be something else. I bet it is the least stolen pill in every pharmacy in the country.

I start chemo tomorrow morning. 5 hour session. Then I do it again on Tuesday with a slightly different chemo blend for only a couple of hours. Then I go for a month before repeating. Treatment is 2 days a month for 6 months, with an evaluation at 3 months to see if any fine-tuning is needed.

Since it costs nothing to be optimistic,I am going to be optimistic and assume I am going to be able to avoid taking those pills. This has been developing slowly over the years, and causing me one problem after another that had no obvious source. Now we know what we are dealing with and treatment can start.

Kinda looking forward to it,to tell the truth. I am bloated with water due to the flooded lymph glands. Doc told me I would most likely lose a quick 30-40 lbs as the chemo starts to kill off the cancer cells and my body starts to dry out. Going to be GREAT to be able to bend over again without blacking out. Bob,my best advise to you is to not give up. Keep a positive attitude because there are new solutions to many, many problems popping up every day. A 75 year old woman I swap books with was diagnosed with incurable Stage 4 cancer 5 years ago,and a month after she was told to get her stuff in order her doc called her and told her about a new treatment that had just been approved, and she is now considered to be cancer-free and healthy, and even had the chemo port taken out a couple of months ago. As I wrote at the start, stuff happens, and sometimes it's good stuff.

Sad news...Pete was a patriot who gave a damn about the future of America. More and more of his ilk are passing on, and I sincerely worry not enough new Petes are being raised to replace him.

Problem 4: Natural Selection Struggles to Fix Advantageous Traits in Populations

In 2008, 16 biologists from around the world convened in Altenberg, Austria, to discuss problems with the modern neo-Darwinian model of evolution. The journal Nature covered this "Altenberg 16" conference, quoting leading scientists saying things like:

• "[T]he origin of wings and the invasion of the land . . . are things that evolutionary theory has told us little about."

• "You can't deny the force of selection in genetic evolution . . . but in my view this is stabilizing and fine-tuning forms that originate due to other processes."

•"The modern synthesis is remarkably good at modeling the survival of the fittest, but not good at modeling the arrival of the fittest." ( more)

Yep...Pete defended his views here, LibertyPost, FreedomUnderground, FreeRepublic, and others since then, it appears. We disagreed frequently, but about the nastiest it got was me calling him "stinkypete"...LOL.

To all:

Is anyone here registered at freedom4um.com? If so, could you please post Sneakypete's obituary there?

Since he posted at that forum, I tried registering. All I got was an "Internal Server Error" so I can't register there.

And thanks for all the kind words.
