Well, for my part I am not calling for war. I am calling for us to remain in peace, while spending money, generated by our peacetime economy, to arm the Ukrainians to fight THEIR war against Russia and destroy the Russians. We don't have to go to war to accomplish that. They'll do the fighting - have to, to keep their country.
Russia has already bitten off more than they can chew. They know that they would be plowed under if they attacked NATO, and would only be able to stop being conquered by committing suicide with nuclear weapons if they started it.
So, I'm for peace for us, war for the Russians, because the Russians chose war, therefore, I say give them their fill of it!
And as for Israel? Well, I'd just as soon not send them any more military aid than we already do. They are so ridiculously overpowered versus Hamas that it isn't funny. American financial support for Israel's war is not a matter of real defense, it's a matter of political pandering to the pro- Israel crowd in the US in an election year. I'd just as soon save that money, or send it to Ukraine. Israel can't lose on the battlefield. What they're doing guarantees they won't win and have peace either. There can't be any peace in a land where everybody is a religious fanatic of one stripe or another, and nobody will give an inch because "God says!"
No, he doesn't. And SINCE God isn't going to intervene on either side, they're just going to grind on forever, killing each other until Kingdom Come. I'm not interested in it, and don't want to spend any MORE money on it than we already do.
We NEED Ukraine to win; it is good for us and our allies. Israel is going to win anyway, so save then money. Of course, the Democrats will just spend that money on illegal aliens, but at least that puts the money back in the US economy.
As for Israel, I agree that there is no rush to fund Israel's eradication of the Hamas terror threat, but we need to do our part to see that the IDF has access to the ammo and weapons systems required to accomplish their task.
That said, the US must be prepared to punish Iran if they dramatically widen the scope of the Middle Eastern war...MUD
Without a genocide, Israel CAN'T eradicate the threat. They can kill all of the current soldiers of Hamas (doubtful), but there are 1.5 million people in the Gaza, and those ranks will refill. Remember the German resentment after World War I? Yep. And these people think God is on their side.
The immediate fighting will stop sooner or later, and the anti-Israelis will rebuild, just like Germany did. Or Russia.
"Without a genocide, Israel CAN'T eradicate the threat."
Your point is valid...the born & bred hatred will never be eradicated via military action. However, post-WWII, the Marshall Plan somehow succeeded in transforming the Japanese people from our mortal enemies to trusted allies. Not saying I am predicting a similar result in the Middle East, but there must be lessons learned that could be applied to hopefully get us closer to that goal.
I know one thing, Israel cannot afford to continue to permit Hamas to use the Gaza education system to brainwash young Gazans with anti-Semitic propaganda...MUD
Well, but, the Japanese may have been fanatical, but it was Emperor worship, and we - wisely - let the Emperor keep his throne. HE commanded that Japan cooperate with the US, and so they did. Nobody was going to defy their God. That worked out for us BECAUSE of Japanese religion. We defeated their fleet and Tojo, but their God-Emperor we left in place. Smart. Today, the Japanese call World War II "The Mistake". They see Japan is better off than it would have been, and that the US is THE ally to have, because we don't WANT to rule them, and we helped them get right back up.
Germany was a Christian country. They had the snot beaten out of them, and had a choice: submission to the Communists, or cooperation with the West. That's an easy call.
But the Middle East? Oof. You've got Jews who really believe themselves to be the Chosen People with a right to the entirety of the land. Some say no, but the strategy of those who do has effectively expanded their control. And then you have Muslims...Muslims who defeated the British and French Empires, driving them out, and the Soviet Union, and most recently, the United States.
Sure, rah-rah Americans can say, as they do about Vietnam, that we "never lost a battle". True. But we lost the war. We pulled out and left the bad guys to rule. The Afghanistan withdrawal was a visible crushing defeat of 20 years of US strategy. There's no fig leaf to hang on it. They didn't "whip our ass". Rather, they simply are willing, for their God, to die ENDLESSLY - our choices were (a) Genocide, (b) forever war, or (c) defeat. We're Christians, we CAN'T do genocide. So our choices were forever war or defeat. We chose defeat, because forever war over a Muslim shit hole is simply not WORTH it.
Jews and Muslims are similarly fanatical for their concept of God - and the Jews, unlike us, cannot back out and leave. The Muslims will never be defeated, and never stop fighting. So it's forever war, period, at least until the United States gets sick of it and stops supporting Israel, like we are edging towards in Ukraine. If we do it Ukraine, Russia wins. If we do it in Israel, the Muslims win.
I don't CARE about the Muslims, and I'm not a fan of Jewish fanaticism either. I DO care about Europe and the Ukrainians. Unlike the Muslims, the Russians do not have the capacity to die forever. They CAN be ground down and defeated. They were in World War I and in the Cold War. We can actually WIN in Ukraine. We can never win in Israel or the Middle East. Genocide is the only option for victory, and we can't do that - literally can't even talk about it.
So, Israel/Muslims is a forever, and ever, and ever war. Ukraine is winnable, and far more important. What DIFFERENCE does it make how the Israelis do? (Except of course to wierd American religious fanatics who cannot be reasoned with, and who - if you try to even talk with them, will call you a liar and vicious names? You cannot reason with religious fanatics, Jewish, Muslim OR Christian. And you shouldn't even try.)
