In this podcast, Keith discusses the value of discernment ministries and the potential issues that they can sometimes cause. This is a profitable conversation about the heart behind defending truth and exposing error.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
...I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Furthermore, I can't help but wonder if Keith and David have applied their discernment to Calvinism, that is, the idea that Calvinism might be an error that needs exposing:
In view of their Jewish problem, which affects the Catholic Church in a special way, we publish , the following amazing extracts from a number of speeches recently made under the auspices of a Jewish society in Paris...we are the Fathers of all Revolutions-even of those which sometimes happen to turn against us. We are the supreme Masters of Peace and War. We can boast of being the Creators of the Reformation! Calvin was one of our Children; he was of Jewish descent, and was entrusted by Jewish authority and encouraged with Jewish finance to draft his scheme in the reformation. source: https://joao.machado- family.com/2016/08/19/1936-catholic-gazette-plot-against-the-church/
Was John Calvin (Jean Cauvin) a Jewish agent sent to rock the foundation of the Christian churches?
It can be argued that a lone Catholic blog might not be the most reliable source of such information, but just a few years back these claims were made by a number of sources (now apparently scrubbed from the internet)
The internet says "Calvin caused 58 people to be executed"...what!
And Calvinism, in my opinion, is the most divisive doctrine ever introduced in the Protestant Reformation...so why not discern it?
Is this just another example of Christians lacking discernment, the great falling away (standing apart from God) that precedes the revealing of the lawless one?
Even so, discerning Calvinism is moot compared to what we are dealing with now...
