Works are merely proof that we are saved. We are not saved by works, but by faith in Jesus Christ.
Being Saved by Childbearing
Perhaps "preserved" is a better translation.
(sothesetai) Strong's Greek 4982: To save, heal, preserve, rescue. From a primary sos; to save, i.e. Deliver or protect.
We see this in practical existence.
This is a man's world, and a woman cannot exist without a man. She is too weak to survive this fallen world alone.
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
A woman's best chance for survival is first and foremost saving faith in Christ. If she continues in her faith with charity, holiness and soberity, she stands the best chance of having "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her..."
After her husband is gone, the children she bore will protect her life.
If that doesn't work out the church is instructed to care for her.
This is God's way.
The world presents a false path for women: a strong independent woman that inevitably morphs into a cat lady drowning herself in box wine.
