Yesterday almost was the greatest day in the history of Palin Derangement Syndrome. A deep, dark secret was revealed: When Palin was a child in the late 1960s, her family on a few occasions skipped across the border into Canada and ... (wait for it) ... went to the doctor!!!
Proof positive that socialized medicine as practiced in Canada is superior to our health care system. Hoorah, Hoorah .... Obamacare, Obamacare!.
But wait. As reported by Ben Smith, it is not clear why the Palins went to Canada, and it may have been that they were living in a very remote area of Alaska so the geography of crossing the border worked. Oh.
And then, as "updated" by Smith, the medical system in the Yukon in the 1960s was not the same system Canadians have now. You know, the system which forced the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2010 to go to the U.S. for heart surgery.
But that has not stopped the PDS sufferers from proclaiming Palin's hypocrisy and the superiority of the Canadian system:
She wasn’t rationed away? Her parents were’t sent to a death panel? She experienced socialized medicine and learned to tell the tell!
A pathetic lot, they are. Sick in the head with PDS. Maybe they should go to Canada for treatment ... if they can stand the wait.
Update: Yup, remote geographic location was the reason the Palins crossed into Canada:
Palin's father said Monday they had little choice, given their location in Skagway.
"There was no road out of there at that time," said retired teacher Chuck Heath, reached by phone in Wasilla. "The ferry schedule was very erratic. We had no doctor in Skagway. The plane schedule was very erratic. The winds dictated whether the planes could come in or not."
