Okay, I totally stole the title from a National Lampoon article from when I was but a kid.

But, anyway, I'm going through my Beatles mp3's with an eye to getting rid of the crap and keeping the gems. I'm an album man, and Abbey Road will survive intact, as will Sgt Pepper, but the rest has to earn its keep. I think Yellow Sub will be okay. The rest better step up or it's going to be deleted. I'm not one to bow to legend, bluesduke be damned.

Chime in, you bitches.

A bunch of us followed the Beatles all from the airport to Candlestick Park in bumper to bumper traffic for their last US concert. They were riding in a modified Brinks truck which at the time we thought was odd as you could see men sitting in the back. That same truck drove onto the infield at Candlestick Park and out jumped the Beatles. I doubt I heard even one note during the entire concert.

Cool. I just remember my older brother getting some 45's in the mail and there was a big hubub, which I didn't understand. It was 45's of Love Love Me Do type stuff.

An old couple lived across the street.... Lawrence Welk types, but they would play Beatle's music all day long. One day while riding my bike on that side I asked them why because they played it loud! The old lady said she was George Harrison's aunt. I never was able to verify it although she reportedly moved back to England after her husband died.

The sound stage manager for the Jefferson Airplane, old Clyde, did live directly across the street. He ended up divorcing his wife, moving to a hippy commune in Lake County and getting married on horseback hippy style to a woman half his age. The picture of the happy couple made the front page of the SF Chronicle. He died five years later.

It was built by the same lady who also had a winery near the old Bale Mill between St Helena and Calistoga in the 1890's. No sign of the winery exists except for the street Larkmead which she named, but her friend, Dr Bale's, Grist mill has been restored. Some of her family are buried in cemetary there too.... a few hundred yards north at Bothe State Park. She's not buried there though.

So do you have a picture of yourself at Lotta's Fountain? It was an important landmark which survived the earthquake.

No...I have pics on top of Marin Highlands and Point Bonita but they are not on a computer...they were on a phone that died just last December...so...when i come out in May I'll bike up and get new pics on my iPhone.

That phone also had a pic on it of the highway reflector that I hit when riding from Point Bonita on the way down to Sausolito that made me crash on my bike the day before that pic was taken...the cast is for the broken fingers and the long sleeves for the road rash from my wrist to the back of my left shoulder...was probably doing about 25...which would have been 30-35 had it happened further down that hill. I had taken a hand off the bars to try and store a used Hammer gel packet...lesson learned...

It's the only landmark remaining from before 1906. The Palace Hotel is in the background where President Warren G Harding died. It's a great photo backdrop but not as recognizable as Coit tower.

Lotta ended up in your neck of the woods. Died the world's richest self made woman.

When I was at Sanwa we had a block of rooms in the Palace including a suite on the concierage floor...very nice hotel...right near that fountain is a bunch of underground shops...actually not a bunch but there was a coffee shop there that had great muffins that was below street level.

I stay at the Majestic now...they know me...treat me well...and every now and again a shemale riot erupts across the street for entertainment...
