In short, he is close to the heavens because he is close to the earth." G.K. Chesterton wrote this in his book on George Bernard Shaw, and, as usual, the English writer hit at the essence of his subject with just a few words. I was recently in Ireland, and one of the things that struck me most during my visit was the centrality of the landscape.
