A Lufkin man who was found guilty of trying to rob a Papa John's delivery man at gunpoint was sentenced Friday to 35 years in prison.
Johnx Greer was arrested Oct. 2008 after police say he and a second suspect tried to rob the delivery man on the 100 block of Booker Street. That is when the deliverer, who had a concealed gun permit, pulled out his gun and shot Greer.
During the hearing, Greer's mother told District Judge Barry Bryan that Greer had bipolar disorder. Also testifying were a Nacogdoches Police detective and victim of another crime to talk about Greer's past behavior.
