(ChattahBox)—Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is getting primaried by teapartier J.D. Hayworth and he is desperately trying to show his right-wing bonafides to hang on to his Senate seat. But McCain’s pandering is becoming painful to watch. Earlier this week, the maverick ridiculously claimed that he was misled by then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, regarding the TARP program, and that’s why he supported it. How far right will he go to appeal to a group of confused angry populists? At least McCain’s latest ad targets the conspiracy theorist birther fringe of the teaparty movement, which Hayworth is a part of. And the attack ad even has an entertaining cameo appearance by crazy Birther Queen Orly Taitz. The ad starts off with the statement: “These are serious economic times–Yet some are consumed by conspiracies.” Top birthers Orly Taitz and Philip Berg are shown spewing their claims that President Obama is not a natural born citizen. And then Hayworth is shown spouting his birther nonsense, suggesting that the issue of Obama’s legitimacy has something to do with “identity theft.”

Obammy sez it I saw this Friday night. JD came across as being untruthful, and just a bit slimey. While I have zero use for McLame, JD should have known better. He would have done better to 'man up' rather than try to hide behind 'just trying to generate conversation on my radio show' (paraphrased from memory). Fact is, this birther bullshit is no different than the 'Bush Knew/911 truther' bullshit, or the 'Clinton Arkancide' bullshit, or the 'October Surprise' bullshit.

Yeah - there's precious little of that in the 'political correct' world of politics these days. I got the impression that he probably believes in it (the birther viewpoint) but he's decided to put it aside: "Obama's the 44th president, he's been certified, it's an esoteric debate yada yada". If I were an AZ resident, however, he'd still have my vote. McClown wouldn't get my vote for dog-catcher.
