Chase Bank to eliminate 247 jobs in BR *
Chase Bank is closing its account maintenance operations in Baton Rouge, a move that will eliminate 247 back-office jobs, the company announced today.
The move is part of Chases efforts to increase efficiency by moving the account maintenance jobs to other larger centers with lower costs, said spokesman Greg Hassell. Chase will move the jobs to larger centers in San Antonio, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; and Houston.
Chase will begin eliminating the jobs in 60 days and complete the process June 30, Hassell said. Workers will be offered the opportunity to relocate.
Hassell said the account maintenance jobs movement will not affect customer service in Baton Rouge. Chase has 675 employees in Baton Rouge, including those in account maintenance, and 31 branches.
