In a CareerBuilder survey at the end of 2009, 20 percent of employers said they would be looking to increase headcount this year. For example, Aerojet, a space and defense contractor, is looking to hire more than 100 people in virtually all areas of its business across the country. Insphere Insurance Solutions, the largest career-agent producer group in the insurance industry, is seeking more than 800 agents to partner with them as they grow and expand coverage.

But the numbers don't stop there. Kelly Services, a world leader in work-force solutions, is hiring more than 14,000 positions all over the United States. (Read a review of Kelly Services.)

"During the last six decades, Kelly Services has provided career opportunities to top talent within the United States and throughout all four corners of the world," says Jocelyn Lincoln, senior director, marketing, Americas region, Kelly Services. "Despite economic challenges, Kelly is still providing well-regarded positions to highly-talented individuals who are hoping to positively impact their industries well into the future."

Kelly Services isn't the only employer who is winning its battle with the economy. TeleTech Government Solutions, a business process outsourcing firm, is currently hiring more than 400 people for the 2010 Census. It's hiring in Stockton, Calif., for people to provide interview support for several different languages, and in multiple locations to provide support for several Fortune 500 clients.

"We're excited to announce the new opportunities we are offering," says DJ Valente, executive director at TeleTech. "With the downturn in the global economy, we are fortunate the growth in our business is allowing us to expand."

Sears & Roebuck to close eight stores Friday, February 19, 2010 7:52 PM

Feb. 19, 2010 (United Press International) -- Chicago-based retailer Sears & Roebuck Co. will close eight of its namesake stores in what it says are underperforming locations, company officials said.

The announcement comes a day after parent Sears Holding Corp. said it was closing 13 Kmart stores, Crain's Chicago Business reported Friday.

Sears and Kmart stores together total 3,530 nationwide. The company has closed 98 locations since 2008, Crain's said.

Sears said it would shutter stores in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas, New Jersey, Wisconsin and New Hampshire.

The closings will be effective by May 9, the company said, and will affect around 1,000 workers.

Workers are being offered severance packages and the chance to apply for other open positions at nearby Kmart or Sears stores, company spokeswoman Kimberly Freely said.

Yes, I am fair. I would like numbers though. An no H1B Visa applicants either.

I keep all my posts to those with actual numbers, and for American jobs, not India.

H1B Visa applicants

WHERE do you find 100% US American citizenship technical personnel in development/engineering labs anymore?

Besides US defense contractors?

Even VxWorks seems to be China-based these days ...

Who wants to be a real estate agent in this economy???

Now would be a good time to get the license.

I guess you didn't see story about Orlando's home prices dropping 14% in one month?

Gee...prices fell in one of the most over built markets in the nation...whoda thought?

That asked, are you of the mind that home sales are at 0?

The fact I was an RM2 escapes you obviously, and what that implies.

Nothing bugs me. From your reaction to this post, I'd say that it bugs you to know that some companies are hiring. And these jobs are not burger flippers...

The fact I was an RM2 escapes you obviously, and what that implies.
